Thailand Issues Statement on Myanmar

BANGKOK, March 11 (TNA) – The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday released a statement on the situation in Myanmar, saying it continued to follow developments in Myanmar with much concern while calling for de-escalation of the situation.

As a next-door neighbour sharing a long common border, with Myanmar and Thai peoples having close interaction in many aspects, Thailand continues to follow developments in Myanmar with much concern. As with other countries, we are saddened by the loss of lives and sufferings of the people of Myanmar due to escalating violence in the country,” the statement said.

Right, so no call for release of the elected government leader and fellow politicians?

I thought not....

Just heard that two of the now detained government officials have died while in custody.  Looking like possibility of human rights violations.

I'd like to see an investigative report on the real reason why the military there, the Tatmadaw, decided at this particular time to pull the "election fraud" card out of the hat. (And also what evidence they claimed, which international news sources don't go into-maybe because there was none.) There must have been some developing dynamic that they saw as an existential threat, since from the outside it hadn't looked after the election that Suu Kyi was really going to challenge them in any way, she'd learned that lesson long ago.

Thailand will probably be sending generals over to Myanmar to show them how to organise and run a coup. Well at least send over the play book with instructions even if it is only pictorial.

They can't say much as denouncing the military action would be like "the pot calling the kettle black"

Exactly they should take Russia and China position and either say nothing or say we do not want to interfere with the internal affairs of another country.

Army snipers are shooting unarmed demonstrators in the head, including women, rape as a tool of war against ethnic minorities, including Christians and so on;  Myanmar military has long committed human rights violations / war crimes.

Thailand will no-doubt facilitate the safe passage of Myanmar persons wishing to flee across the border...

No idea what Thailand will do but I'm not apposed to it as long as they are covid tested,  for Thailand to do anything more would be hypocritical.

Such a great los of life  with this military coup  .

Aung San Suu Kyi . also had  the responsibility to protect the Rohingya people who are state less but also  not such a good effert to help them .

The Military  as everywhere els in the world always want the power, be it money or minerals

but like many it will go bad sometime   Sadam  and Gadaffi   both leaders for better greed or worse  lost in the end.

but when they  were elimenated  many said it was a mistake  keep them and then there would be less problems \

Some of the world Condems the Mirmar military  saying sanctions and this that all much talk as always  but realy nothing much will happen ,

Sorry for the Mirmar people that have to suffer  again  i have also friends  have the problem also of missing friends /family

take a look at North Korea   all the sanctions of the world  but he still going strong and getting things either the good way or another way

Comments  from neighbouring countries of Mirmar   keep quiet  because to many workers and shady deals and big money involved   .

There will be a few more die  before some stability comes back  either be it military or some sort of controlled Goverment

The old General Brigade will not allow anyone to take over everything

a bit like Thailand  always will be a military presence in Goverment

I HOPE 1 day be peace everywhere  .

You can hardly expect the Thai government, which came to power through an overthrow of the elected government and a rigged election, to criticise a felliw army for a coup!

Here's a pretty perceptive take on it ... even if the truth remains murky.

Of course election 'fraud' will become the latest scream for any authoritarian/military/criminal with enough guns types who lose an election from now on, having been legitimized recently by the selected president of what used to be the democratic beacon on the hill.

Bolsonaro has just passed laws which will ensure the arming of death squads and militias just in time for Brazil's next presidential election.
