Hi Forum,

I will be purchasing a new Forza 350 soon and wanted to know how do most folks secure their bikes when around town and out shopping or at the beach.  I dont what to come back from shopping and find that my brand new expensive bike has been stolen.  Any advice will help.

You're lucky, the Forza is too heavy to carry around ????
I'm lazy so I only use a sturdy disk brake lock with alarm. For an expensive bike, I think it should be complimented by a sturdy EU approved wheel lock, they're 5 to 10,000 baht or so on Lazada.

There are cheaper local ones for around 1,000 baht or so too. Not as good obviously. I have one but I'm too lazy to use it

No market for a stolen Forza - or any big bike here mostly.

No one with any sense would buy it if the green book can not be transferred into their name.

A Wave - on the other hand - has a ready market in neighboring countries.

PITA locking bikes up, just get 1st class insurance until you don't care anymore

The Forza is keyless isn't it, so you don't have much to worry about. That makes them all but impossible to ride off with. It also means that the ignition switch cannot be replaced without knowing the keycode.

Their relative rarity would also make them an unattractive steal.

Ride on with confidence and enjoy.

As said thieves target Waves and Click scoots and alike and KX Kwacka bikes in Bangkok was the last report I saw.

I had my CRF insured for 2 years after that they wouldn't cover it for thieft so get a good company to cover.

Don't be complacent about thieft if you live Bangkok with whatever bike or scoot would be my advice.

Generally true but there's a market in Cambodia. I'd still use a disk lock.

About 12 years ago I bought my wife her first ever bike, Yamaha Fino still had the red plate on it when it got nicked, she was gutted.

The boy that nicked it had a bad accident ran into the back of a Jazz and went though the back window he had changed the plate off another Fino which was a different colour so he was in even bigger trouble,

We got paid 50,000 baht to buy a new one

If you worry about it, get insurance, more convenient than a lock ????

Nobody will steal a Forza, most people a happy getting rid of this tank like plastic tank ????

Nothing to worry about, go on with your life no Thai want that bike you have a much better chance of getting your helmet rip off.????

Set the alarm and disable the ignition.  Didn't you read the owners manual on how to do that?

All saying first class insurance.. I used to have it. Did not renew for second year as was told you will never get more than 50% of cost of bike even if its a day old. Worth looking into.

If stolen does the insurance company care if you used a lock or not?

Forza has a built in alarm. with that and a 1st class insurance, you'll be alright..

I like to remember to take the key out snd I’m good 155 Yamaha

Not trying to hijack this topic, but is there any way of securing your helmet on a Forza apart from putting it in the topbox?

There is also a 'helmet holder' under the seat for hanging the helmet securely. Useful if the bin is full.

This is a common feature of most scooters.

You also know that keyless cars are most stolen in the west right and that they have keyreaders they use to steal them . Same case with bikes . But that's the west . Since i have been in thailand i never locked my bike anywhere but ok maybe these days it's different people having no money left because of covid . Lock it or look for paid parking .

Put this on, well visible and write that it works with a remote control.

If it is an high end helmet like the one's being sold in the U.S. cost here would be 20,000 to 25,000 baht, I don't drive anything bigger than my PCX 150, I had a nice helmet 1800 baht, it fits under my seat during rainy season I had my rain gear in the box so I hook it under the lip of the seat came back it was gone they cut the strapped.  The topbox design for a reason if cheap helmet is your thing just leave it hooked the chances of it being hijacked? I got thereafter a 800 baht helmet still have it and I leave it out.
