Prostitution continues in Pattaya despite COVID-19 restrictions

Reporters from Siam Chon News went to investigate after complaints that prostitution was rife in an area of Pattaya despite Covid-19 restrictions that have seen Chonburi placed in a Red Zone.

They went to an area behind a gas station in Moo 5 Bang Lamung that they said was well known for prostitution with karaoke bars one of which was ordered shut in the past but then promptly reopened.

Alcohol was not being served but sex was freely available from woman, many of whom were not wearing masks.

On both sides of the road in front of ten closed lounges were groups of women in skimpy clothing that amounted to more than 50 individuals in total.

In a blurred out video the reporter said he was visiting and inquired about prices.

He was told that it was 1,200 for short time on the premises and 1,350 off site with a better room.

All night would set him back 3,500 to 4,000 baht.

The media said on Facebook that this was all very worrying for the potential to spread Covid-19.

Some men were pimping the girls and there was no shortage of customers - there was a steady stream of cars and motorcycles circling and stopping.

Women would approach them if and when they stopped.

They called it a brazen flouting of the rules.

The story at press time had attracted only one comment from "SPS" who asked:

"Have the police seen and heard about this?"

He had to go to some obscure soi to find prostitution in Pattaya ????????

And he thinks it needs karaoke bars/closed shops to spread Covid?

They must have checked at the wrong time of the month.

Although I do understand there is a ban on meetings of more than 10, I was just considering a meeting of one on one which is entirely within the COVID rules.

" an area behind a gas station in Moo 5 Bang Lamung" - doesn't sound like much of a resort to me.

I'd like to interview the one in the red top. Maybe the reporter can give her my number ?

Strictly for "professional" reasons of course !

Surely not ??  I thought Thailand was supposed to be cheap ?

At a price like that I would imagine the ' oldest profession '  will fade away almost to nothing.  I can't imagine being desperate enough to part with a hundred quid for such entertainment.

I live in Naklua and have Moo 5 Banglamung in my address. The nearest service station to me is on the Naklua Road just before Soi 12 that goes to the Sanctuary of Truth.

Hope you find it OK. Enjoy.

I have "Moo 5" in my address as well and I'm on Khao Noi.

However, I'm sure I've been to that place before. A friend took a couple of us there one night in the middle of the week. It was basically a "thai" place (mostly because most foreigners didn't know about it and it was off the beaten track).

Not a lot of girls there at the time. One of the mamasans said that a lot of the girls were Uni students who would come down on Friday after school and go back on Sunday. (So we didn't stick around as the pickings were pretty slim.)

Good local information!  In these uncertain, worrying times it could be vital. ????

Would that not be Nongprue rather than Banglamung Sub District.... ? Hell I have trouble with the addresses here.

Me too, but often I get parcels delivered from Banglamung and all that is written on them is (number/number) and Moo 5. Confuses me as well how they figure it out. (I just went and looked at 2 small boxes I had delivered recently and on both someone had written the house number and "moo 5" and that was it.

Anyone that has lived in Pattaya more than 1 month knows this place

That is rather a blanket statement.... I did not know of it until well into my residence. Had a darkside pal tell me of it.
