Guess a new governor for Bangkok will take over soon

That's one of the perks of being involved in a corrupt gov't: anyone can be charged with corruption.

Brazil is the same way.  Charging a politician with corruption is like accusing a Thai of picking their nose.

Complete and total scripting and fabrication on the back of ‘politicians breaking rules’ follows by ‘stop pestering our politicians’...  some halfwit who everyone thinks is sharp figured it would be a great idea to present the PM as ‘one of us’......  Wow, even the PM is not beyond the law !! this guy is amazing, what hero he can be fined like the rest of us...

.... juvenile mindless....

And the latest set of rules highlight the juvenile and idiotic mindset - masks in private cars.

My Wife’s friend is a news reader and just told my Wife that they will have to wear a mask when reading the news !!! - just dumbflookery at its heights...

In another place, I would agree with you. However, knowing Prayuth's personality, the culture of Thailand, and the fact that the photo was removed makes me think this wasn't a PR stunt.

Should have been fined 20k though, considering his wealth and that he should be a role model.

Soon  will we have to wear a mask when we sleep next? Where is the end to this? and where are the vaccines? This really sounds like a real money maker.

If anything an indication of rifts and power struggle starting to show. I am guessing many other governors have also had enough of utter incompetence, delays , double standards and all the rest.

question is what happens if he does not pay or refuses to pay?

Thailand's Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha was fined 6,000 baht ($190) on Monday for breaching rules aimed at containing the coronavirus by not wearing a face mask, the governor of Bangkok said.

Anutin next?

...i think it was a very clever publicity stunt to get the message through to the dunderheads who think this is all a  'it won't ever happen to me'  scenario.

Brave governor.

But revenge will be paid.

Prayut is like that.

A few weeks in Attitude Adjustment Camp will sort this punk out.

So gullible of you.

What you're witnessing is a public stunt to paint the PM as a humble citizen subject to the laws of the land. It was done either on his initiative or  with his permission. As an added bonus, the fine demonstrates how serious the authorities are in fighting the disease. Two birds in one stone.

Since the majority of people in a car are driving with their families, asking us to wear a mask in a car, is like asking us to wear a mask in our homes. Little difference. When laws rise to the level of sheer stupidity and panic mongering, they are made to be broken.

Prayuth deserved to be fined. He rarely wears a mask. And Anutin should be fined 20,000 a day for every day he does not wear one. If the so called health minister cannot set an example, who can?

For these guys, it would be like a small donation to the govt. Nobody knows the true extent of their fortunes.

The cops could make a killing fining foreigners on Sukhumvit (around Asok, Nana, Ekkami) not wearing masks.

I think the cops already made a killing by going to the nightclubs.

First we know this story isn't true whatsoever!  Someone pointed it out?  Where is that person today unless it was family?  Then he called the government to check if it was true?  Last, he paid 6000 baht when it was announced the fine is 2000 baht. This is an example of not dual pricing but dump pricing with dummy paying it whether it was his money or not!

This story really confirms who and what is running this country!  " The light is on but no one is home "  The Puppet Show goes on!????

The leader of the country should set the example. Probably the leader understands that masks are simply ineffective. Dr. Fauci confirmed this. Masks do not work and only serve to placate.
