Yes... sounds like the  app registration approach idea for foreigners has now been discarded. It's gonna be in-person, as things stand now.

And the next item on the covid agenda will be registration fees for non Thais perhaps

What was not clear to me - as it specifically relates to Bangkok - is whether the two registration centers (Vimut and Bang Rak) are the only places to register or can we go to the hospital that has our medical records as well? Given the number of foreigners in Bangkok, I am doubtful that there will be any same day jabs.

Ya, for Bangkok folks, that aspect/question wasn't clear.... Hopefully it will be clarified in the coming days....

Am I the only one looking for the back of the queue and add a couple years more? let all the guinea pigs rush for the testing sites and wait how they fare..........  ????

I've had various medical procedures at 3 private hospitals in Pattaya & one in Sriracha over the past 10 years, one in Pattaya has opened a waiting list which both myself & my Mrs are registered on, no date as yet, I never had my medical records moved here from the UK so the only info they have on me is what I gave them on my visits, is that all they need ? And should I register my interest at all the hospitals I've been too ?

Unfortunately all invalid, try again on the 7th June and NOT before

Not necessarily...

You need to distinguish between the GOVERNMENT's COVID vaccinations registration system vs. the separate route envisioned for PRIVATE HOSPITALS to eventually end up selling likely other vaccines, probably Moderna, for a fee.

The government registration process will begin June 7 and likely involve the Sinovac and/or AstraZeneca vaccines.

Thus far, there's been little to no word on the exact timing of when private hospital vaccinations with the Moderna vaccine might begin, AFAIK. But various private hospitals have been keeping "interest" lists from would-be patients.

AFAIK, the two routes and separate and distinct.

Registered already but out of curiosity rang two local hospitals this afternoon, one government one private both still say have no policy yet from government re foreigners for vaccine. So it looks like the latest PR BS from a clueless administration who could not organize a good time in a brothel!

It was only decided yesterday afternoon and publicly announced midday today by the government...

Give them a little time to get the word out to the hundreds of hospitals around the country and for those hospitals to bring their staffs up to speed accordingly.

I wonder when the Thai government plans to join the 21st Century if at all.  Possibly they will join the 21st Century in 2100.  Maybe.

Given how some carry on treating the normal folk they still think it is the 18th century

What happened to the setting up of specific centres for foreigners with English speaking staff to take medical info and avoid any misunderstandings? Is that gone away along with the APP?

At least as regards Bangkok, it's starting off with these two that are supposed to have EN speaking staff available:

Call me stupid but what is the difference between on 'on site and walk in'?

A case of ,same same but different?

Or could it be a bunch of grown ups playing kids games?

On site means you can go to that site and register for an appointment but you may not (probably will not) be vaccinated that same day, whereas 'walk in' implied you could just walk in to a place and get vaccinated immediately.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. I'm gonna put my social security number on a Thai website.

They are saying they have decided not to develop one as they were unable to resolve the verification issue due to lack of a central database for foreigners who do not have a Thai ID number.

Presumably (though not specified) the appointments of the many foreigners with ID numbers who registered on the Mor Prom Thai app will be honored. ...time will tell.

Perhaps you should ask yourself the following question -- who's going to provide COVID vaccines to foreign nationals living in Thailand first?   The Thai government, or the home countries of those foreign nationals?

That might bring a little more reasonable perspective to your numerous critical comments here....

Probably because the Moderna vaccine won't be available at private hospitals till then?

It's only just been approved and no details of any agreement by Moderna to provide shipments of their vaccine to this country have been announced, that I'm aware of.

At last some positive news from Pattaya !!

Five months from now.  Excellent.  I wonder what could possibly change in five months time.

They don't need your prior medical records, that would have been necessary only if you were trying to register for the June Phase II vaccination of high risk people based on a medical condition.

I would say just make appointment at whichever one can give you the earliest date.

What they mean is hospital that has you registered as a patient, a process achieved by simply requesting it and showing your passport.  it means they have your address etc on file and a copy of your passport, that's all.

When the social security number was mentioned, I think it is for those persons who have work permits and have Thai social security numbers -- I could be wrong.  I've never been asked for my home country's social security number before.

Maybe the solution to that would be to give us all a Thai ID number then?

Complete with card & photo.

Problem solved ????

Exactly. If you've ever worked here your employer 99% signed you up on Thai SS. And you'll have that number even after you quit/retire.

There is already a system to issue ID numbers to foreigners.

About half of us already have one.

But you have to take the initiative to get it, and the requirements  can be a bit daunting  if you are a renter.

But what about the foreigners here in Thailand on tourist visas? Still lots of them here, they aren’t expats or residents as such. Are tourists still including in this ? I asked billy barrow and he said “it’s not known”

there is no exclusion based on visa status and it is highly unlikely any hospital will even ask or check. (Indeed the hospitals don't know one type of visa from another).

They want your passport for ID, is all

Already tried.

Was outright refused a yellow book by the amphur.

She didn't even look at me, just said NO.

No yellow book no pink ID, right?

And I live in a house..

Bought, not rented.

This announcement clearly says passports will be cool.

No need for a pink card, yellow book, tax ID, or even fishing license to get vaccinated in Thailand, right?
