Thailand on Sunday (June 20) reported 3,682 new COVID-19 cases and 20 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 3,104 new infections

● 578 prison / prison infections

A total of 2,401 people were discharged from hospital having made a full recovery.

Sunday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 cases in Thailand since April 1 to to189,268 with 1,629 deaths.

Earlier this week, officials said that over 7 million vaccine doses have been administered in Thailand.

Over 2.9 million doses of the vaccines have been given since the country launched its mass inoculation campaign 10 days ago, according to the data released by the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA).

Approximately 5.2 million people have received their first dose (7.5% of the population), while 1.9 million people (2.8% of the population) have been fully vaccinated.

Thailand is in the process of accelerating its vaccine rollout, in time for planned ripening of the country to tourists on October 1.

Before that, the pilot ‘Sandbox’ project will be launched in Phuket on July 1, which will allow vaccinated foreign tourists to visit the island without the need to quarantine in a hotel room.

Health officials announced Saturday that around 75% of the population of Phuket have received a COVID-19 vaccination.

Highly doubtful. What is more likely is that they are lying to make Phuket seem safer than it is.

3682 today....and yesterday 3667. Amazing, that's all i can say.

Looks like we've lost the 2k+ average range and now moving onto a higher level daily's. As for the death count I personally don't trust that in the slightest.

Until they actually officially publish exactly how they classify covid related deaths then its unfortunately just numbers they are giving us with little meaning as to how they arrived at them.

Rolling 7 day average (up to 18th June only) which includes prison cases and bar chart of community cases.

Yeah, seems they've increased their testing capacity slightly. It'll be around 3.5k until they can increase testing.

It’s amazing that the people who constantly claimed that the flat numbers were proof that the numbers were fake are not stepping up to say they were wrong.

Do you have any evidence of an increase in testing?

No. I suppose none of us has any proof of anything. We have what's reported and our common sense. Like you, I think the numbers are highly likely to be very inaccurate.

Opinion: Reopening Thailand in 120 Days Needs a Good Plan, Not Just a Risky Goal

To meet Gen. Prayut’s own target of inoculating 100 million jabs by the end of the year requires roughly 470,000 jabs on average per day every day from now.

One must then take the new target of opening Thailand within 120 days with a brick of salt.

Hospital beds caring for those seriously ill due to COVID-19 are now near full capacity and one wonders how the country can manage if more foreign tourists and locals become infected and seriously ill.

Ominous that until this weekend, there had never been two days in a row during which community cases increased by more than 3,000 per day.  Looks like we might be moving into some uncharted territory.

I would like info on the variant. 99% of cases in the UK is now the B.1.617.B

SINGAPORE — There is a significant risk of "vaccine breakthrough" with the Sinovac vaccine, or CoronaVac, with international evidence showing that many who had taken it were later infected with COVID-19, said the Ministry of Health's (MOH) director of medical services Kenneth Mak on Friday (18 June).

Chonburi is reporting higher case numbers, but testing numbers are not increasing in Chonburi.

Google 'please explain  Pauline Hanson'.

Australian politician.

She is  pretty dumb and every time she is asked a question she does not understand her answer is "Please Explain"

Do some research. You don't get these figures with virtually no measures in place. Very slow roll out of vaccines.

I've just returned to Bangkok. There is very little restrictions here. In fact I was very surprised.

Now you've just blown Pauline's cover!

I'm also surprised, like Dr Jack, and I've been in the heart of the Nana district for a year now. Only thing lacking is alcohol in the restaurants-and well, the out and out bars are closed. Massage places many open, tho only foot massage allowed haha.

My rental agent claims this central area is not where the Bangkok cases are coming from, in other words it's not a "cluster" area, and from looking around every day it does seem that way-another of those mysteries.

I don't mention the new case numbers to my gf.

She goes off. Reminds me of that movie Conspiracy Theory with Mel Gibson.

She starts ranting about the numbers all bs and that Government playing game.....etc. BTW She maintains numbers higher. She not denial person.

States........ why farang so stupid cannot see this.

I just sip my coffee. Never throw kerosene on a fire.

there is very well recognised and accurate metric that reliably predicts covid spread "The R Number" apparently it does not apply in Thailand

more cases to come, the more we open Thailand, as i keep on writing time after time.. Vaccinate your people before opening again. The stupid PM doesn't understand that and gives people false hopes. in less than 120 days the country can't open and with the different covid infections, nobody will know what will happen. Besides, It is said many times that Sinovac is not good, but he keeps on using it, instead of skipping the FDA with their slow approvals, order the Mrna vaccines as soon as possible.. Although I am aware that the whole world want that, but the more you ask, the sooner you get.

I don't think the PM is giving people false hopes, because everyone knows he's lying and stalling for time. It's like someone being abused who is paradoxically comforted by the fact that the abuser is still interested enough to keep applying the pressure even though all the control is still all on one side.

I wouldn't worry about people flooding into the country.

I wouldn't worry about hardly anyone going there.

Looks like we have reached the next plateau of numbers. How long will it stay in the 3k range before continuing its climb?.  Yes it's a rhetorical question, and much like "how long is a piece of string", we may never know. However, the cases, regardless of where they are found, are continuing onward.  The country wants to open, well Prayut and some others want it to, but can it open safely and realistically will anyone come with the restrictions in place now and possibly in the future.  Drove up to Pattaya and around town just now. Having lunch and it is fairly deserted.  Drove through the Koh Larn ferry parking lot and even it is fairly empty.  I know it's a weekend right, and many Bangkok folks head out to escape, but it looks like this past weekend was flat.  Headed to Satahip after lunch......stay safe folks.

Eh.. the numbers can still be wrong when going up. But this is actually worse still the same amount of tests and the numbers are increasing a lot. Means the infection rate is up. While at the  same time they are opening things up.

Pure desperation and need for money. Understandable but we will have to see if it is the right thing to do. This can only work if the vaccination program goes well.

What I'm missing with this self-centered reopening fantasy is that, at the current rate of increasing Covid spread, Thailand will get classified as a high-risk country within weeks.

Which will mean that many people who have been considering to holiday in Thailand either won't be able to do so at all or will need to factor in quarantine upon their return to their home country.

Let's also not forget that China, Thailand's biggest market for inbound tourists, has never waived state quarantine for returning Chinese citizens, and is unlikely to do so for the remainder of this year at the very least.
