PHUKET: Phuket people “should be proud of their mission for the country”, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha said this afternoon (July 1) at a meeting held for him to be brought up to speed on the COVID prevention measures in effect to ensure the Phuket Sandbox model is a success.

Speaking at the Royal Phuket City Hotel in Phuket Town, PM Prayut noted the importance Phuket Sandbox has in reopening Thailand to receiving international visitors.

He also said “he felt more reassured” after listening to clarifications from all sectors involved, including businesses and members of the public.

Should you choose to accept this mission, and it fails, I will not stand you up against a wall like my friend in North Korea and shoot you with anti aircraft rounds.

"Be assured you are important to me as a scapegoat when this fails" he said....

Looks like he leaving already perhaps no fun to be had here.

Hug Thais Hug Phuket, Hug New Record 6087 / 61 Highs Today.

Are you proud of your utter failure in your mission for the country oh exalted Covid Czar?

I am wondering how proud Phuket will be if the infections there will rise......

Frankly...

Is the slogan ’Hug Thais Hug Phuket’ really appropriate? Hugs?!

When the other day they even discourage to have sex?!

And today recommend to wear a mask even at home?!

So hugging is OK?! <deleted>!

we've all been cut proud from what i can work out

Thailand/Phuket is the first country in SEA to open in this manner.

The "Pioneers" who arrived and Mr. PM should be nominated for some type of award by the ASEAN community.

And maybe make July 1 a new national holiday.

Congratulations!

And the Thai people should be ashamed. Of you. Of Anutin. Of the entire health ministry. Get out now!

Get back to work finding vaccines to be delivered now, not some vague time period down the road.  That's Job 1.

Did hundreds of thousands of tourists arrive in Phuket yesterday? Anybody have numbers of arrivals? Number of new cases in Phuket? Number of new deaths in Phuket?

Did he meet as much as one 'tourist?"
He could have sent his cardboard cutout and a MP3 recording for what this is worth.

Another bound to fail exercise.

Not for those who have arrived.   Pleasant weather, free to roam anywhere on the island, go to a beach or lie by a pool.

80% of Phuket is vaccinated; herd immunity is reached;  No one is ill from Covid (just regular flu); the hotels are full.
Hallelujah!  Happy days are here again!

Less than 400 from 4 flights (to be expected for the first day).   Phuket has recorded 23 new cases and 1 death in the past 7 days.

Not only a national holiday but a paid day off holiday for all government workers!

If he had done that people would have been far less offended, by his presence.

Some would beg to differ!

How about a truthful, no frills account of the first day of Sandbox?

Just gives credence to the advice offered on this forum for several months, that is if you're planning to use the Phuket Sandbox, pick an area with a reasonable Expat community such as Rawai or Kamala etc, where most businesses are still open and operating, albeit on a lesser scale.   Even in Patong, the further away you are from the beach, the more places are open (such as Nanai).

They would have provided limited personality and charisma but vastly more than the man in person.

I fell out with Phuket years ago and preferred Samui, these days I would opt for Koh Chang but why go to any of them when they all look like this at the moment in the video?

Just a waste of time and money.
