I heard when they said "out of 700,000 healthcare worker ONLY 880 of them became infected" Sounded like look the vaccine is working.

Well, that would mean that all 700,000 healthcare workers would have been direct exposed to the virus. Sure they are at a higher risk, but it means not much at all.

I hope they get medical staff proper protective gear! This article tell that nurses can get infection even use mask if use only normal surgical mask.

A quote from the link below about the delta variants speed of infection suggests it's 3-4 days for severe symptoms.

Fevers are common. The level of virus in the body rises higher than previously seen during the pandemic. And more people are becoming severely ill within 3 or 4 days.

https://www.healthline.com/health-news/the-covid-19-delta-variant-heres-everything-you-need-to-know#What-symptoms-does-the-Delta-variant-cause?

That article (and the original NYT article on which it's based) doesn't say that people get severe symptoms 3-4 days after initial Delta infection.  It says they are more likely to get severe symptoms 3-4 days after the initial appearance of symptoms than those infected with the Alpha variant.  There is no difference in the time between initial infection and the appearance of symptoms.

Your remark this morning was that you predicted that cases would start falling as soon as they put restrictions in place; therefore, you were taking credit for having predicted the fall in cases on Sunday.  But this makes no sense from a number of perspectives, including that it's still going to take a week to ten days from infection to the appearance of symptoms.  And in any case, the restrictions (or most of them) hadn't even taken effect yet when the Sunday cases were counted.

In 300 medical facilities nationwide, rapid antigen tests have been approved for professional use, Anutin said on Monday. The approval for home use (self-testing) will come later. (1/2)

Furthermore, the government approved the use of mixed vaccinations, Sinovac first and AstraZeneca second, to increase the efficacy against the Delta variant. They also approved the third booster shot for front-line medical workers, the minister added. (2/2)

Re your reply above to the other poster:

The government's spokeswoman said during today's briefing that they would hope to see some reduction in cases as a result of the new curfew and other restrictions with ONE MONTH's time.

DEFENSE SPOKESMAN DENIES SOLDIERS FLY TO US FOR MRNA COVID-19 VACCINES

BANGKOK — Defense Ministry spokesman Maj Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich denies the ministry has any policy or privilege to fly soldiers to the United States to be vaccinated with mRNA vaccines.

The denial made on the phone Monday morning came after some accused a group of soldiers who have been pictured at Suvarnabhumi International Airport check-in counter of flying to the US. Koncheep said 114 army officers who left Thailand late last week were part of the annual Cobra Gold training exercise.

“They all have been vaccinated in Thailand and were quarantined upon arrival. None have been given [mRNA] jabs in the United States,” Kongcheep told Khaosod English on the phone Monday morning after the allegations spread online that soldiers were privileged and flew to the US for vaccines. The spokesman said the officers will be in the US until July 28. It comes as many Thais were calling for more effective vaccines, particularly mRNA to protect people against the delta variant of COVID-19

That's an interesting and correct look... first time over 1,000 for the NE region...

And the new case tally today is roughly double for that region from what it was just a week ago:

Here's the growth in single day cases percentages I get when comparing regions on July 6 vs July 12 (two individual days one week apart):

North -- up 212%  (57 to 178)

NE -- up 106%  (549 to 1,132)

West -- up 75%  (233 to 408)

Central -- up 58%  (3,358 to 5,310)

East -- up 50%  (518 to 777)

South -- up 18%  (697 to 827)

That's about a 40% positivity rate on that Air Force testing.

As they say on the intro to the "Star Trek" series, now exploring new frontiers...

First immigrants, travelers, locals, prisoners, construction site workers, and now the military.

The public outcry before the @armypr_news denial shows 2 things:

 1) The reported demise of Thai-US military ties seems a bit exaggerated.

2) More Thais increasingly don’t trust those in power to play fair, especially when it comes to handling #COVID19 and vaccinations.

80 deaths with covid test positive, not for covid. Why we don't test for every other virus existing on the planet? How many deaths for heart attack? For cancer? Deaths for meningococcus? It's contagious!

Because there is a new virus that has killed more than 4 million people in a relatively short time. You might have heard about it. Unlike heart attacks and cancer, this virus is contagious.

Well-loved Samut Sakhon doctor loses his battle against Covid-19

She also pointed out that the doctor had received two doses of the Sinovac vaccine along with other frontline medical personnel.

Ratirat’s post attracted more than 1,000 comments, including condolences and praise for the bravery of frontline medics who risk their lives in the battle against the virus.

They would be fools not to get the mRNA as a booster while there. It’s free!
