How get rid of a lot of cardboard packaging?

Featured Replies

Hello,
Do you know how can I get rid of a lot of cardboard packaging? Following my move to Samui, I don't know how to do it. a service to contact? (I do not have a car). thank you

Do you not have pickups going around collecting it?

Many areas do, we have cardboard or other stuff to recycle, i look out for a passing recycle truck, stop them, easy job done.

I believe that 7/11's are recycling for helping to make hospital beds.

Otherwise speak to your nearest 'recycler'. They will probably collect for free.

Where are you based on the island?

Thank for your replies. I am in  bophut near Fiisherman.

If you send me your address via a private message and give me details of where you are, I can send someone round with a motorbike/sidecar. They can move it for you.

Take to the scrap yards , they pay cash for cardboard

If a dry day, just place it together with garbage bag(s), it will disappear within in short time, often hours before the garbage is taken away. If not dry it's best to cover cardboard against rainwater, i.e. if any plastic came with it then use that, or use a garbage bag, preferably transparent...????

or tell the first bike taxi or baht bus you see that you have cardboard.

There are recycling places all over.  They look like junkyards with lots of big bags piled up.

I either give mine to neighbors who are happy to take it so they can sell it.

Otherwise I leave it by the garbage and let them get money for it.

Do it the Thai way. Burn it with other garbage. Add a lot of plastic that it burns better.

In my area any cardboard (wet or dry) placed outside my front gate will be picked up by locals in a mater of hours.

Also the garbage truck comes Wednesday mornings and if I place the bin outside the night before, any recyclables will be picked during the night and if I take it out in the morning the garbage men rip open the bags and pick out any recyclables.

put on the street in a tied bundle  gone in no time

Take the biggest box or two you have break down the other boxes or cardboard and put them inside. Find a outside garbage can usually blue or yellow set it outside morning it will be gone.  Of course this is rainy season so don't do it when it rains.

If you have a housekeeper you could ask her or alternatively the guards or cleaners in your ‘moo baan’ to pick it up. They will be very happy to remove it for you, and they can make a little extra cash out of it.

I usually just put it in our truck and take it to Makro.  I do a little shopping then put the cardboard in the cart.

Makro has a place around back where they store cardboard and eventually recycle it for money.
