Thailand’s 40 CEOs reject ‘Wuhan’ model, call on PM to control pandemic, provide compensations

These CEO's are speaking out of both sides of their <deleted>.

Solve everything, but don't lockdown.

Say what?

I believe the Wuhan model is a bit too extreme, but repeating what was done a year ago is spot on.

A Wuhan style lockdown would destroy the country completely.  The government in power needs to find the money it has embezzled and filled their pockets with to return it to the people and then buy the

It took 77 days to eliminate the virus in Wuhan.  If the Thai government had put in a Wuhan lockdown last year the virus would be gone now as it is in China even without vaccines.

Nanjing is in total lockdown even as we speak.

What we are seeing on display is the whole Thai culture ignorant of basic concepts of safety and planning. Concepts of probability are absent: Too abstract for a low-education nation.

Wait till someone dies at the dangerous corner before doing anything about it. Don't bother to mark the hole let alone fill it in till someone falls into the sewers.

The culture is, even at the highest levels, one of day-to-day survival.

I didn't see the word 'vaccines' mentioned once.  That is what is needed--mucho vaccines now.

Prayut was the cleverly masked Trojan horse, in came seemingly one person then they magically expanded to an army of soldiers to take over complete control.

Sure, and there's no conflict of interest when these people give their heavenly advice. I couldn't think of such things ever happened in LOS. Do CP group and Sinovac purchase ring a bell????

Of course it's a different answer depending on who you ask...

Ask the medics they'll say close as much as possible down to stop infections.

Ask the business/tourism sector they'll say open everything up.

Prayut talks to those who give him the response he wants to hear.

A bit like why he selected the 250 man senate to make each day at work a pleasure.

The General/Pm will listen to these people without them he is a nothing

Perhaps they should combine some of their great wealth and add it to the PM's donated salary, and buy a lot of vaccines? Maybe?

I don't think its a money problem but a shortage of vaccine problem. Plus of course the slow as molasses in winter actions of the government in procuring vaccines.

Anazing, no vaccine needed, no virus ever coming back?

Dream on, China is just waiting for Delta to hit it harder than anywhere.

What about when it returned in April?

Can you think that the coup was needed, but also think that what has happened since is bad?  Didn't they return to democracy quite quickly after most of the other recent coups?

At least there are some people talking sense to the PM. Hopefully he listens to these instead of the scientists and hysterical media.

The only voice he likes to hear is his own !

These CEO,s of the Large Companies such as PTT, CP and SCG were never , ever going to support any kind of a lockdown, whether it was " Wuhan Style , or any other style.

All they are interested in is that the Thai Public are not restricted in their rights to squander Money, and will keep the profits rolling in for them.

Thats why they have offered assistance in the form of Test Kits , Medicines Etc., and asked that the Government compensate people affected by the pandemic.

All to keep feet falling onto the floors of their Malls and stores.

Not for Humanitarian Aid.

There will be a lot of new vacancies at the coe office soon now some have spoken up.

I support wuhan lockdown. It is basically like that right now anyway.

But the recession will only help the government to retain power, poor and sick people will follow for a few crumbs of bread.

Strange analogy. They did choose the horse and now they are asking the horse to do something. Why do you think they chose the horse?

But you need to pick a horse that had some intelligence, otherwise an ass would have been sufficient, and then maybe they didn't or couldn't see the difference.

The virus came straight over the border. What is happening was inevitable. So you want to stay locked in your house for 6 weeks and rely on government deliveries of food? No thanks...
