To be honest I thought she was looking for exactly the response she got.

Lots of little cliques who tend to jump on anyone who opposes their views in what they perceive to be “their” thread. 

Add a few new starts trying to mark their territory and be accepted into the “mutual like” club 

 

Mix that in with people whose whole life seems to be reliant on finding negative outcomes and willing to dissect every piece of information until they eventually find something. 
 

Seems to be less accepted to have some banter and even seen posts removed due to sarcasm. 
 

Throw in the previous post re bored old pensioners etc and there you are. 
 

Just my opinion of course, and nothing particularly new, just more obvious with the reduction in posters since the transition. 
 

The OP has my sympathy. Can’t be easy returning nowadays. 

It still kills time and better than TV. ………television that is not Thai Visa.!

 

 

 

It's not as bad as the Op suggests, maybe he's just feeling negative. Certainly on the Facebook groups there are less arguments as people mostly have real profiles except the trolls

Ubon Joe has saved my skin a few times. I'm thankful for that, and thankful he hasn't been chased away by the increasingly bitter trolls here.

 

There is a Thailand forum on Reddit, which was, and I guess still is pretty decent. Do beware of the trolls over there who will go through your posting history and try to "out" you for perceived "crimes" such as 'dating Thai women'. As with there, I have no idea why or how people find the time to be such arsewholes to random people who are just asking for help or posting helpful info. It's easy sometimes to be snarky, just look at this topic and replies right here, but I'm very thankful to everyone who has been contributing positively to the community.

It'll all change once the bars are open again and we have something better to do than sit in front of a computer.

There are some members who don't like what other members said so they will troll us. Unfortunately, this forum doesn't have any means to completely ignore these trolls/haters.

 

These trolls will nit-pick on everything like technical terms 'there is no retirement visa, just extension'. It's as if we are going to get a monetary reward by typing 'extension' instead of 'visa'.

indeed the lawn there is much smaller but maybe the gardeners there are more hale and hearty 

if we could only move the gardeners from there to here and get rid of a lot of the garden we dont really need to see here as its the other side of the fences

I tend to stick with particular threads of interest ( Real Estate, citizenship, DIY, etc.) and, like you, find the content very helpful. I normally steer away from the more general threads though because of the negativity.   

This is one of the lamest, limp wristed forums I have ever come across. If it has got a little more punchy, then i'd say that's a good thing.
