But only approximately 6k of them were tourists, the remainder were either returning Thai's, or expats coming back to be with family or their own place and did it thru the sandbox instead of a regular ASQ.

  • Great news, until tomorrow when it will be reversed

  • Finally the nail salons open ..... ????

  • I will believe it when it happens, I'm going to be very surprised if this doesn't change before November.   This is the way they should be doing it as COVID is already well established insid

Now Thailand needs to lobby the UK to take us off the Red List and accept vaccinations in Thailand from November!  And our Government needs to speed up vaccinations across the country and more testing.

Sign this petition. It is a start.

If only they focused on a faster vaccine coverage, the'd not have to do all this flip-flopping week-by-week...i'ts all coming down to vaccine rates....this leader has failed on the speed of roll-out.

Good interactive globe which shows vaccine rates of 1 and 2 doses below.

Great news. Starting from 1st October, anyone coming to #Thailand who is fully vaccinated need to only do 7 days quarantine whether it be in a hotel in Bangkok or on an island like Phuket or Samui. They also only need to do two RT-PCR tests. Full details in attached thread

Quarantine for fully vaccinated to be reduced to 7 days from Oct, 10 provinces to reopen on Nov 1

Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) decided on Monday (September 27th) to extend the nationwide State of Emergency to the end of November, but ease some of the partial lockdown measures effective October 1st, including shortening the quarantine period for those fully vaccinated to 7 days, and shortening the night-time curfew in the “dark red” provinces to 10pm – 4am for at least 15 days.

The curfew will be shortened by one hour, from currently 9pm – 4am. The CCSA also agreed to reduce the quarantine period for vaccinated travellers to 7 days, instead of 14. Those who do not have documents proving their vaccination will, however, have to go through 10-14 days of quarantine.

The CCSA also allowed the reopening of certain businesses, such as children’s nurseries, child development centres, libraries, museums, nail salons, tattoo parlours, spas, health centres, indoor sports arenas, cinemas and live music in restaurants.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand will waive its mandatory quarantine requirement in Bangkok and nine regions from Nov. 1 to vaccinated arrivals, authorities said on Monday, as the country tries to boost its immunisation rate and revive its battered tourism sector.

Who are "authorities"?

The government, obviously.

With other provinces offering similar scheme's then those expats and returning Thai's will have lots of options throughout the opening up provinces, diluting the numbers from anyone Province, currently Phuket.

Less than a third of the population has been inoculated so far.

and they still want to open, if there are enough "desperated" visitors to come...... these government likes playing with people's life and well being

Covid is here in Thailand.  The Phuket Sandbox found very few positive cases in the international arrivals.

how many of them were expats returning to their families and how many were "real visitors/tourists"

private?

Excellent news.

As predicted by some, the announcement of opening up of the main tourist areas for Xmas/NY , which was always their main target.

It will help bring about much needed  financial relief to many of those families who have suffered the most under this extended lockdown and through lack of tourism.

At the current vaccination rates and continuing reduction in infection and  death numbers further easing will hopefully continue in the run up to the main holiday season.

They have zero confidence in the vaccines and at this point I wouldn't argue with them on that.

no testing no infections detected... simple as 1, 2 and 3..... had an aquintance living in Krabi telling me for the past 6 months  there were barely no cases there and no deaths (no testing was being done) and for the past 1 month they found/report more than 100 infections daily and 2-3 deaths daily as well, guess why? they started testing more than before, same with Phuket and other areas of this well managed country who forgot to order vaccines or if they ordered them they kept them on the stock pile for  a """just in case""" we need them 555

Arrivals from outside Thailand get tested.  Not talking about locals.  I agree, covid is probably everywhere, so pointless putting them in quarantine.

That's the mid-term break.

Unless they drop the curfews and other restrictions it means very little. I highly doubt your average 2 week tourist is going to be spending all their holiday money to place themselves back in a situation they've spent the better part of the last 2 years trying to get out of.

Fact is, most of the West has already returned to normality, or close to it. Unless Thailand does the same it shouldn't be expecting any decent number of tourists returning

Post-covid world travel = so many unanswered 'What if' use case questions....

Thai schools already on their break.

Yes, but you tell that to them! Catching up by foregoing the October mid-term break and cancelling public holidays seems obvious to us but not to Thai Schools. Vaccines for the staff and students is the issue that will allow them to perhaps begin around November I would guess.

Can i get my passport stamped at BKK and walk unhindered to a taxi?

Have you booked your flight back to Thailand?

Many on this forum would like to benefit from your inside knowledge.
