A clear and actual plan for Thailand’s reopening to welcome fully vaccinated foreigners will be discussed and finalized within 1-2 days, the director of the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration’s (CCSA) operations center stated today, October 18th.

General Supot Malaniyom from the CCSA’s operations center revealed today to the press that the details of the plan to open the country to fully vaccinated tourists without mandatory quarantine, according to the Prime Minister’s policy, will be announced at a major CCSA meeting within 1-2 days from today, October 18th, 2021.

Additionally, details on what should be prioritized and considered in terms of how and if the plan will be able to be implemented next month will be available this week and will not be “held off until the last moment”, according to the director. This statement appeared to be directed at many people commenting on social media who had been afraid that any “official” announcements about the plan would be held off until possibly the last several days of October, like the Phuket Sandbox previously, leaving people with little time to plan potential trips in November.

the only thing clear from all this is that thailand is 100% not ready to reopen.   if they were, and by that i mean their people are properly protected, there would be no need for anything m

Don't think it's going to matter to foreign tourists and the devastated tourism industry and unemployment in Thailand if they announced it today, tomorrow , any day this week or last day of the month

if they were, and by that i mean their people are properly protected, there would be no need for anything more than a vaccine passport and a wai.

"A clear and actuel plan"? That would be the first one.

To be fair, they seem to be taking onboard the need for a clear and simple plan to reopen.

Reports elsewhere would seem to indicate a tracking app will need to be installed.

The CCSA said a year ago we were past the peak could they say it again a bit louder ????

I think even if it was on the covid test on each end of a flight, they are still in for a shock in how fewer tourists would come.

And China, they are not allowing their people to travel or only under

the most impossible conditions..something like a 3-week quarantine on return to China.

So might as well pivot to Indians with their fake pcr test and fake vaccine paperwork per Sri Lanka's experience so far with them.....

DOES THAT SOUND LIKE A

PLAN ?

Don't think it's going to matter to foreign tourists and the devastated tourism industry and unemployment in Thailand if they announced it today, tomorrow , any day this week or last day of the month - nobody is coming in numbers any more than has been the case with the Phuket Sandbox if they continue with the requirements, quarantine and testing nonsense.

Flash my vaccinations at the airport and get on the plan and I'll come November first week.

Even if they codify and clarify completely the new arrival rules, there is a great chance things will change shortly after that.  The number of cases will increase, but not really due to arrivals, but more due to larger numbers of Thais getting together, going to work, etc.

Remember the old saying from statistics"  Correlation does not prove causation"

But they or some will point the blame at foreign arrivals, even though many will be vaccinated, and the others will have gone through quarantine and tested negative, and any arrivals by air certainly will have been tested negative as a condition to have even gotten on the airplane to fly to Thailand.

even if they open all now to everybody, with no requirements at all, nobody will come.

might be surprising to them, but regular tourists do not think now "oh gosh, when will i be able to return to thailand at last ???"

eh?  On what or where is vaccination expiration status displayed?  Did you get vaccinated in Thialand?  I recently got the JJ vaccine single jab here in the States.  The CDC vaccination card says nothing about expiration, nor does the more detailed receipt I got from the Pharmacy.

Some people will come.  I am more than willing and able as I am semi retired and not heading to Thaland looking for a wild two week holiday.  Thailand always was just a great hangout place for me.  Between my contract engineering jobs, I was on the next flight to Thailand while searching and waiting for my next gig.  It was usually easier to fly to Thailand than for me to drive back across the country from California to my home in Florida.   Love walking around.  Always loved the baht bus easy on easy off pickup trucks.  What a great and inexpensive way to get around a city.  Casual daily foot massage, swim in the pool, a little night life now and then. Food from all around the world.  Plenty of company to meet up with during the day as needed. Meditation at the Thai Temples.   I would be content without all the gogos and bars open.  They are a nice distractions and certainly have enjoyed them now and then. Music, cold drink, pretty Thai figured ladies.  stopping into PapaGuyaos on Soi Diana late at night. But I can survive quite fine without them. People watching at KISS open 24 hours.  Love and miss Pattaya.     As vaccinated, make the arrival make sense and they would get my retirement monies.

It has the date you received the vaccine. Expiration dates are not  fully known or understand. There is no concensus.

You must be misreading the document. Expiration dates of vaccines are not  fully known or understood. There is no concensus.

I know you know what you have. You showed it but you didn't explain it very well as I did.

just as well as 1 nov is only two weeks away...

Hope for the best, but read the fine print:

surely everyone needs to have the app, not just tourists, otherwise how would they know who an infected person has come into contact with?

You did not explain anything.  I was not explaining anything. I was offering it as a response to Sott where I asked what piece of paper he had and if he got vaxed in Thailand.  The man said the following words and it would be interesting to see if he can post the piece of paper he has.  Is it some Thai piece of paper that itself expires?  I doubt they mean the vaccination itself.  There is some chance the Thais were printing the expiration of the dose itself which does have a finite shelf/storage life

And I point out that often, several officials kept saying that things were conditional on 70 % vaccination rates being reached.  That 70% is not going to happen by November 1.

Prayuth, Anutin and CCSA makes this like a "too many chefs spoil the soup" disaster.

Almost every day some new rule and announcement regarding how to enter the country,  The major travel operators abroad can't wait any longer if they want some tourists for this high season, if they can't sell the Christmas and new year period they will skip the rest of the high season also.

By the time 70% approaches it will then go back down to our favorite BOOSTERS!!

Repeat this cycle of boosters being needed and you will never reach 70%.  Endless profits and kickbacks for people that govern your lives though.

Israel showed this method of making money works.

Im not going back before earliest late january anyway.Next time 3 months there, and when return to my country will bring my wife with me for 90 days here.Anyway thats our plan now, maybe many things changed before that time.
