Thailand on Tuesday (November 23) reported 5,126 new COVID-19 cases, 7,748 recoveries and 53 additional deaths over the past 24 hours. 

 

▶︎ Infections outside prisons: 5,022. Prisons: 104

▶︎ Recoveries: 7,748

▶︎ Total infections since April 1: 2,047,272

▶︎ Total recoveries since since April 1: 1,945,127

 

Tuesday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 2,076,135 with 20,489 deaths.

 

The news comes as The training centre for police cadets, at the Seventh Regional Bureau of the Thai police in Pak Tho district of the central province of Ratchaburi, has been locked down after about 180 cadets were found to be infected with COVID-19.

 

According to police, an investigation is underway to find out how the cadets were infected, despite none of them having been allowed to leave the centre for the past five months. Only cooks, maids went out to buy food ingredients.

 

Health officials have already separated those considered as high and low risk from each other.

This seems to be a big drop in cases looking at the graph.  I truly hope they are being above board.  They do want tourists to return in numbers, but unless they drop some of their silly rules it will not happen anytime soon.

UPDATE: 5,126 confirmed cases, 1,516 probable cases (ATK), and 53 deaths (0.99%). Out of 83,093 patients , 40,905 are in hospital, 32,594 in hospitel and 5,292 in home/community isolation. There are 1,535 in a serious condition (-60) with 363 on ventilators (-19) #Thailand

Nice to see this drop in cases from 74 previously reported.

 

Health officials on Monday (Nov 22) reported 47 new COVID-19 cases, 21 were found in Hua Hin.

Of  the cases found in Hua Hin, 6 were linked to the cluster at Makro and 2 cases were linked to the cluster at Chat Chai market.

Elsewhere in the province, 8 cases were found in Pranburi, 6 cases in Sam Roi Yot, 3 cases in Kuiburi, zero cases found in Thap Sakae, 6 cases in Bang Saphan, 3 cases in Bang Saphan Noi, and zero cases in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan. One more death was report today, a 65 year old Thai man who had an underlying health condition.

Walkins under 5000. I wonder about ATK useage and positive notifications along with incorrect useage giving false negatives. Today's number including ATK is the lowest since July 7.

I reckon these are really mostly the Sunday numbers. It'll tick back up tomorrow

Sorry I was not clear. Merely speculating lower figures due to most of these tests being physically carried out on Sunday, reported on Tuesday.

Can someone explain why Vietnam is doing far worse than Thailand. Yes larger population but ~ 190 deaths and ~10k + new cases..

Not sure about their vaccination numbers.

They certainly had a more strict lockdown in places eg Saigon compared to Bkk.

Looks proportionate from week to week as the numbers drop between 1400 to 1600 cases each Tuesday per @dinsdale post I quoted.  So in about 4 or so weeks we should reach almost zero cases on Tuesdays if they are truly testing and no new variant arrives on scene.

As of yesterdays stats for vaccinations for the Big 4 here in SE Asia. Vietnam is slightly behind Thailand in fully vaccinated but slightly ahead of Thailand when you include at least 1 jab. Unknown why their case numbers are trending upward.

On the subject of air sanitation / air purification, a small study in the UK in the link below suggests that they were able to completely filter airborne Covid 19 particles from the air in "surge wards" at a relatively low cost.....

Just a thought. Testing is way higher and how they classify covid deaths differs from Thailand.

Perhaps. I have bit of soft spot for Vietnam. Second home. Love Thailand too much to change.

Hope their covid situation improves.

In recent days they have opened up (internally).

A few outlets in Patong, Phuket have been asked to close for 3 days due to small "clusters". Typically the "busier" outlets.

 

All cases initially detected by the regular ATK tests which appear to be working well as a first line of defence.

 

As a point of interest, in the outlets that I know, one member of staff has been confirmed Covid positive, the only staff member not to have received an AZ top up. Speculation on my behalf, but guessing it is a testament to the effectiveness and importance in some cases for an AZ booster.

Was never going to be visitors to the country causing any spike. What has opened internally that's different from pre November 1st?
