Thai Rath interviewed Anutin Charnvirakul - Thailand's controversial billionaire health minister and DPM about the latest surges in Covid-19 cases brought about by the Omicron variant.

 

Anutin - who is neither a scientist or a doctor, just filthy rich - said that Omicron was not as bad as Delta.

 

In 2021 there were 28,000 cases in a day - he didn't want to go back to that so he urged people to follow the rules and protocols.

 

Besides, he said that the situation will not be as bad as last year because 70% of Thais had received vaccinations in the country and 8-9 million had had a booster shot. 

 

He accepted there had been a surge in cases in the New Year but pointed out that this had not been matched by a surge in deaths.

 

He said that his continued suspension of the Test and Go for foreigners entering Thailand to the end of the month was designed to keep more virus out.

 

He said Thailand needed to get it's own house in order first before accepting more foreigners. 

 

He intimated that restaurants operating as half food joint half pubs would be looked into after many cases came from such establishments.

 

The Thai media likes to call Anutin Sia Noo or Mighty Mouse. Critics have said that at times he is more like Motor Mouth.

If he paid attention to Europe, and especially in  Sweeden with 17 000 new covid cases yesterday, he would not even think what he said.

He's wrong. Enough dirty farang made it back in to take refuge in Thailand, to start a big new wave. He should assign each a personal washer to scrub them down as they rarely shower themselves. It's the only way to stop the spread.

Go read up on another Post Today from one of your Buddies at MOPH

Only 64 % ( 45 M ) of Thais have been double Vaxxed, using 90 Million doses of the 103 Million said to be administered.

That leaves 13 Million doses spread among the remaining 36 % of the Population

So, if according to you 8-9 Million have had Boosters, then there are a whopping 5-4 Million doses left to Vax those that need it.

Many countries have higher vaccination rates and are still bombarded by Omicron. Why would Thailand be immune to similar.  Just more BS from Thai govt officials.

It didn't start at 28,000 cases a day the week after Songkran. 
It started the week after Songkran and built up from there.

So this is the first week after the New Years super spreader event. Give it a couple of months and report back again!

You mean like the UK just did for pre-flight testing

Dr Nut well should know that the 100% increase from yesterday to some 6k means within days tens of thousands infected.

 

He should stick to Tik Tok, the man's a loon with no sense of reality

The world should move away from looking at infection figures but look at the hospitalized cases instead.

 

If you just had a cough, slight fever and headache due to Covid for a few days, it's considered mild and shouldn't be worried about it.

 

Mild and asymptomatic should not be counted as serious cases. It's serious cases that is worrying.

China rushes to develop an mRNA vaccine as doubts grow over local jabs. Older inactivated virus technology in domestic shots less effective against infection than foreign rivals.

I know about 20 people who are double vaccinated and in isolation due to Omicron, in Pattaya.

 

Its going to get very bad very quickly.

Don;t even need to look to Sweden 0 Aust is 80-90% fully vaccinated and had over 65K cases yesterday. Past vaccines are certainly not stopping symptomatic infection. Even it's not clear that boosters are going to help that much in the long run. The death rate will be lower with Omicron, but total deaths may exceed that from the delta wave.

 Got Covid Omicron 30 days after getting 2nd jab of Moderna. My brother and his wife got It and they have had the Booster. This country is looking at 50,000 a day very soon. Omicron goes right around all vaccines. We are all just lucky the symptoms  are light and very few people will die from it. They have me in a hospital right now sucking money out of my insurance company for the next 7 days, been here 3 days already. Feels like a bad cold . Can you imagine this country trying to hospitalize 50k a day. This by far is the most contagious Covid we have seen
