Pattaya-A Swedish man reported to Pattaya police after he was allegedly attacked by two young Thai men in Pattaya January 14th.

The 49-year-old Swedish man reported to the Pattaya City Police at around 11:00 P.M. Following the report, police officers and the Swedish man went to the scene of the alleged incident on Pattaya Beach not far from the police station on Soi 9.

“ I was chilling and sitting alone, drinking beer and relaxing on Pattaya Beach. A young Thai man approached me and immediately slapped me in the face before a second Thai man arrived and began screaming at me in broken English to get off the beach, threatening me physically. I was upset but decided to flee and file a police report.” The Swedish man explained to Pattaya police.

And maybe you should stop drinking lao khao or go out of the sun

  • Being alone drinking beer on a beach at around 11pm isn't the smartest move.

Seems one of the safest place for a crime or selling your body is actually outside the police station !

RE - There is ALWAYS a reason

* Yes, you have right - it's always a reason for everything

RE - and it usually involves the farang doing something stupid or being an ahole

* Not necessarily since the term "unprovoked violence" actually exist for a reason ...

If the report is accurate it would seem the reason is that he [the victim] was there....

Or perhaps not wearing a mask?

Before I retired I was a paramedic & worked ambulances & Emergency rooms for a couple of decades and many times where there was some sort of bar fight, a common phase we'd hear was "I was was just minding my own business, I didn't do anything and this guy punched me", then we'd hear the other guy's story and there was always some sort of interaction between the two.  So for me, I'm skeptical of this guy's story.

There is a lot of finger pointing and surmising being done here as to what actually happened. Why don't we focus on the alleged facts rather than hypothesise ?

It's difficult for us to believe there wasn’t a ’trigger’ because were all normal and do not commit mindless violence.

We all want to be skeptical of this guys story because no one wants to believe that we could be attacked for no reason whatsoever.....   However, it happens.

In this case the attack maybe racially motivated...

I thought wearing no mask and drinking beer on the beach at 11 pm was illegal. Most porobably he was kicked out of bar at 9 pm (current law)  but wanted to continue drining on the beach, IMHO the Swedish man appears to be completely unaware of his environment and the public's paranoia (thai and foreigner) toward covid. The typical attitude of an uneducated foreigner of wanting everyone to see the world as he sees it.  He said he was just chilling out drinking a beer ... I doubt it. Most probably by 11 pm he was drunk as a skunk and bothering the freelancers on the beach, and making himself a target. The way he is slouching on the chair in the police station it appears he is completely drunk and anything that comes out of his mouth should be taken with a grain of salt!

The facts are somewhat thin.....

Westerner sat on the beach. Two guys attack him.

There’s not really much else to it... but we’re on a discussion forum not a news website.

Was there a trigger ? or is mindless violence on the increase ? or are racially motivated attacks on the increase ? etc... lots of possibilities... all worthy of discussion.

Just because he said something and it was printed, that doesn't make it fact.

Rubbish! Random attacks happen all the time!

This is what I'm talking about; racism against white foreigners in Thailand. And the Thai government are them self xenophobic and doesn't care at all.

And I thought Sherlock Holmes was only a fictional character but here he/she is on AN with an in-depth report of the situation.

Putting aside  the possibilities  of more to this story than stated, I am  simply amazed that there were only two ThaIs confronting one farang.   They  must be very brave, or very stupid  n ot to have another half dozen  pals  to assist them,   they could have been hurt.!!
