Cheap Activities Bangkok

Featured Replies

We have a niece (15) and nephew (13) coming to stay with us for a few days. Money is a bit tight at the moment so, can anyone suggest any inexpensive activities for them. Places to visit, things to see or do.

Trip on the river taxi orange flag, 15 baht, there are places in Bkk with wild monkeys, no charge. Wat fairs starting now, free to enter. Ride up and down the BTS without exiting for minimum cost, Lumpini park and the new water park just opened

my family and I had a cheap out at new year. A boat on the river, stoipped off at Wat Arun. visited a market somewhere. it was very enjoyable. You could even go to Ko Kret.

Well, I say cheap - it was untill we went to Asiatique and the missis developed a taste for Belgian beer.

-Nephew will like the Royal Thai Airforce museum (free). Get there by BTS. Or taxi as there are three or more of you.

-Yes to the river taxi ride from Taksin Bridge to Nontaburi (almost)

-Cycle around Kho Kred (from Pakred) or Phrapadeang (the port ferry). Both have bike rentals.

Depends on where you start from? Bang Na? Go south on BTS get ferry (PakNam BTS) across river and get a taxi to Navy museum? (Phra Chulachomklao Fort). Pleasant restaurant.

The various parks are free to visit

If they are coming from a village, then just strolling around malls like Siam paragon or icon Siam is quite impressive.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I like the idea of the boat trip to Ko Kret, and I'll make sure to empty my wallet before entering the shopping malls. ????

Yes.

Take them to Chatuchak Market then across the road is a beautiful big park. Lots of water features

Go to Banchrachao and rent bicycles for 50 baht per day each.

The annual Kaset Fair is on at Kasetsart University, ends 5 Feb.

The midway features carnival games and rides.

The event also has a market and plenty of snack foods.

If you can afford it seaworld is a good bet an then walking around siam paragon.  Watch your wallet lol if you go across the street to the stalls

The new park at Benchakitti is open, it's pretty big so would take a while to walk around.

There is the "Green Lung" Bang Krachao where you can hire bikes and enjoy some cycling - https://www.thailandee.com/en/visit-thailand/bang-krachao-bangkok-s-green-lung-bangkok-293#:~:text=Bang Krachao is also called, through the trees and bamboos.

Out by Suvarnabhumi is a cycling track for more serious cycling -

Museum of Contemporary Art - https://mocabangkok.com/

Ice skating is good fun and not too expensive - around 350 baht per hour including skate rental - Mega Bangna or various other locations.

We just came back to the province from a 3 day trip to BKK. We went with 2 kids, 3 and 10 years old. If you need a hotel at a good location, i could recommend IBIS Riverside.  If you book the Family room (around 1700฿/night), you will have a  bunk bed for the kids and a Playstation 4 in the room????. Nice garden restaurant at the riverfront, good view, long and clean swimming pool and good access to the riverboats and BTS. Don't book the breakfast, there are many good and cheap options outside the hotel. And there is a 7/11 too.

We made a Tuktuk ride , it was a Hello Kitty Tuktuk????. Ask the guy from the restaurant near the street or the motorbike taxi guys.  Ask for the price before you start the trip. We went to a nearby market (2x60 ฿) and next day to Lumpini Park (one way approx. 250-300฿). Lumpini park is just 15min. away, there you can rent a bicycle outside and drive around at the park.

And last but not least, i can recommend plane spotting at Suvarnabhumi airport (see map). Be sure to follow the red arrows because there is no U-turn if you come from PTT station. You can eadily park on the side line, great view of the planes, you get one every 2-4 minutes, Check flightradar app for arriving/departing flights.

-- Play arts & crafts with them as in "Let's see who can paint the house the best" contest

-- Tell them there's hidden money in garden and who rakes the most leaves will find it (5baht)

-- Tell them in your home country all the cool kids like to wash & wax their uncle/aunt's cars.

If any of them complains they are assigned landscaping duty ????

You missed the great craft beer on Koh Kret!?! It's truly outstanding.

There's also Chok Chai Farms and that pottery place right close by (brain fog preventing the name) and taking the train (3rd class) to Ayutthaya.

These are all day things for under 500 baht.

Those dang Belgians got a lot to answer for lol ????

Depends on what they like ... a day trip out to the floating markets might be fun. Not too expensive for the boat ride, and food etc during the day there is cheap. A bike tour around the 'green lungs' of Bangkok on the other/old city side of the river is great fun and healthy. There are a few good companies who run these easy to find.
