The Thailand Pass registration system will remain in place indefinitely, despite calls from key figures in the tourism industry for it to be removed.

Speaking to Thai language news outlet Bangkok Biz News, Tourism and Sports Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn explained that Thailand Pass is a state registration system and it can not simply be cancelled.

“The Thailand Pass system cannot be cancelled because it holds data and important information on tourists which can be used to trace them when they travel in Thailand,” Mr Pipat said.

Since July 2021, anyone visiting Thailand has been required to register using the Thailand Pass system.

There must be more behind this subject than they are prepared to let on, surely they can extract the data on current tourists and delete the data on ones that have returned home what is so difficult in this??

yes, it can be cancelled.

At some stage it will be, as it is (and always was) half-functional.

All this personal data on the governmental sites is unprotected, doesn't even have to be hacked. Employees selling to mafia for some $1 per piece, but in thousands.

Since I have started registering for thai vax on multiple (but suppose to be credible) sites, I have stream of sms and emails with local spam.

Further increased after registering with thailand pass.

They had 2 major leaks, 28.01 (just before re-launching T&G) and a week ago. Each time they had to put a warning on their pop up page, but never admitted their responsibility

It's will be cancelled after the elections I think, they do not want tourists here.

Indeed. This is the mail I got today on the mail address I used for my Thailand Pass, a mail address no one is supposed to know:

Aye, they'll not be needing that third runway and new terminal building at Suvarnabhumi, then...

Maybe this is a jobs program for bureaucrats.

If a country needs a system to track tourists, then they are in no state to even recieve tourists... This freak show of a few in charge there is getting totally out of hand...  Having the need to monitor and control everybody 24/7 is Totalitarianism in its pure form and it is clear and obvious where persons like that stand...

There we go.

They are finally admitting this has nothing to do with health or safety concerns at all, it is all about controlling and tracing the masses or hordes which would be entering the Kingdom each and every year.

And this time, for all you deniers out there, you heard it from the horse's mouth, the Tourism and Sports Minister himself.

My advice: if you haven't already, sell everything, recoup your assets (or your losses) and get ready to pull out of Thailand at any time.

Welcome Thailand Police State 2.0 sponsored by the CCP aka Chailand!

Straight from the horse's mouth indeed.

We are not welcomed here anymore.

Get out you dirty farangs! Make room for our Chinese overlords, our Indian neighbors, our Japanese Hi-So's and our South Korean high spenders!

To be fair we are not welcomed by the authorities. The people are just fine generally.

Nothing is more permanent than a temporary government program.

This is why government should always be limited as much as possible.

And the numbers of tourists will be minimal and Thailand as an important tourist destination in Asia will be lost for ever.

As the land of flip flops (not the ones on your feet) I wonder how long it will take before that word indefinitely becomes obsolete.

My prediction? It gets scrapped once they realize the tourist numbers are not rising.

What will not get scrapped is the app they will force you to install on your phone at the airport.

  • Popular Post

They can claim what they like.

At the end of the day, their whole system, including database, emailing, uploading, timeouts and more is useless. So even if they think they can trace us, at best they can just let the hackers do it for them.

The moment I passed immigration I deleted the tracking app from my phone.

That's exactly what the CCP in China is attempting to do. And who is China's best buddy??

When they see millions of people happily visiting neighbouring countries hassle-free, they will renege on their poor choice but in a face-saving way. Guaranteed!

Nobody forced me to install the app.

Covid has given this government powers which has gone to their heads. Can't comes from leaders who are insecure and clueless what were you doing before Covid?

Are these info not available on the immigration database?

anyway, if 2 x PCR testing & totel stay continue, its good for long term expats in Thailand as baht should remain subdued..

Even better implant a small tracking device under the skin behind the ear, the small scar wouldn’t show.
