TAT welcomes S7 Airlines’ new weekly service between Russia’s Novosibirsk and Thailand’s Krabi

As most of the rest of the modern developed world condemns Russia's military invasion into the Ukraine, some countries like China and others will support or hold a non-judgmental position for Russia's actions.

Thailand will be one of few nations to accept Russian visitors with open arms.

In the meantime, sanctions against Russia begin elsewhere.

Whatever your politics are.

The Russian ruble is not doing so well, and may limit interest in coming.

This whole "crisis" has to do with Biden wanting to help his Ukrainean cronies who have enriched the Biden family and of course the usual suspects: Raytheon, Northrup Grumman and other arms' peddlers who have lost a little bit of business after the Afghanistan defeat.

No no no no no - this is all cuz of Hillary's emails!

Oops, sorry my mind asked if you were referring to the Russian or American Afghan defeat … or perhaps the earlier British debacle. It is in the hands of the Ukrainians … if they resist the military invasion by Russia, I have no doubt they will get plentiful supplies from the west. The citizens of each country … if they elect their leaders who are directly responsible for their nations actions … that is applicable to any country holding fair, free elections. It was the decision of each country to freely decide to apply for NATO membership … in large measure the expansion took place in reaction to the post WW II USSR hold on the Warsaw Pact nations. Sorry to see you got the history wrong.

How are the tourists from other countries (Europe) going to feel about rubbing shoulders with the Russians here in Thailand? Along with Covid-19; another reason not to visit Thailand at this time.

Lol stay home mate and dont tar everyone with the same brush just because they were born in a different country. Embrace all as individuals, some you will like some you wont but Country of origin should no be a reason to hate.

The last time the ruble fell this low,Russian condo owners were selling in Thailand. Russians will not be happy will the exchange rate in the coming weeks. NATO should surround Kaliningrad.

Hide, the Ruskies are coming.

I was in Pattaya a few days ago.

Plenty of them.

I was in the Samui immigration a month ago to do reentry permit, probably 80% of the people there were Russians. They didn't look like wealthy tourists, but in these times beggars can't be choosers.

Are the Russians going to make Thailand there R&R destination for the troops? If so, the girls are back in business.

Blazes looks like he is a Trump supporter. Never read the facts ,twist the truth, hop into bed with the dictators or would be autocrates. Blame the false media, support the the extreme conspiracy theorists. And when the sh*t hits the fan they blame everyone else.

Time for Thailand to stand up and be counted. If they want to be classed as a developed democratic country the time is now for the general  and his cohorts to make some meaningfull commitment to the sovereign rights of all countries.

Yes, not happy.

10 year low.

At least 20 year low,

Curious timing for the announcement, to say the least. But we all know - though some choose to ignore - that when an airline opens a route, it doesn't decide it at midnight and announces it at 9am. It requires market study, economic forecast, arrangements for slots at dep and arr airport, organizing staff and aircraft schedule, and probably more. Quite likely this was in the works for many weeks.

Similarly, they don't run a route for today only, but at least for a whole season. Wait and see.

btw S7 is an excellent airline.

Sad to see such lack of education on display in a public  forum.

Trump was a good leader. Biden is hopeless. Most Russians are cool people. Way better than certain other tourists.

Excellent airline based on what facts?

Do you have any idea how many airlines in Thailand have gone under over the years?

Why should a Russian airline go under in Thailand?

Given what has transpired overnight in the Ukraine I say the entire Russian nation needs to be ostracised utterly (ala anti-apartheid bans against South Africa) until they remove every troop and every mercenary from Ukraine. throw them out of the UN.

No admission to any country anywhere in the world for any of them, cut off access to world banking, cut off all trade - all trade.

It looks even better on a 5 year chart.

Soon, the Rubel billionaires are all coming to spend their fortune in Thailand.

Russian central bank just raised rates to an eye watering 20%. Dont think we will see many russian tourists for some time. Not  with the baht v rubel at an alltime high. 12 years ago it was 1:1. Now 1:3.8

GAME OVER (for now).

S7 Airlines will cease all international flights from today (March 5).

They will care to return remaining passengers from Thailand somehow.

Another blow to the hope for tourism revival in Thailand.

Well of Russians anyway.

They should be building new markets.

Mexicans anyone?

I like Russian tourists in reasonable numbers as they're fun to watch and the younger ones are often stunners.

But.when they dominate things get ugly like having to sit on them when they don't make space on baht busses
