The shooter was Jaras Mongkholsin, 47, who said it was just one of those things, he was angry and shot his wife's lover.

A search of his house in the district revealed an 11mm magazine and other evidence.

He was allowed to "graap" (show respect) to his mother and grandmother before being taken away. He helped in the search.

CCTV evidence showed the wife get out of the car then the suspect approach and start shooting.

He has been charged with murder and detained.

He's not going to do much time in prison. Even if he gets life (BMs seem in favor) he'll get half that time off because he confesses and is assisting the investigation. I'll bet he is out in under 3 years.  Got to wonder if the wife inherits anything  from the deceased lover.

A crime of passion... just one of those things.

it had been going on for a few years , he just snapped , shot his wife in the

face with a homemade shotgun , when he realised what he had done took

her to hospital , DoA , tried for murder ,no money for lawyer , the lawyer

they gave him had just passed the bar, never had done a trial , never mind

a murder trial , 30 years ... 50 % off for pleading guilty ,

Stupid man, didnt think about kids....zero impact on wife.....she will be free to cash in her freedom while he is spending his life in prison.

Crime of passion - I think about 5 years max in Thailand.

I suspect he'll get a very small/token/suspended sentence.

Having sex with another mans wife is considered a serious crime in Thailand.

As it is in Muslim countries.

Who's the "stupid" one, the adulterous wife's boyfriend, presumably?  Not to mention the "stupid woman" who didn't consider the children, either!

"Angry" is a feeling, being "calm", in this context, is an action or reaction, no need to pick only one.

Fragile Thai male ego strikes again!

this is not a 'thai' thing or male thing. males, and some females, in countries all over the world behave in such a way. if you look at the US there are far more such killings; road rage, domestic rage, rage against your employer or work colleagues. so is the american male ego fragile?

Hey, steady on, you're being rational with that comment!   That goes against most Thaivisa posters' agendas and won't go down well here.

He will become a monk for a few weeks, that will reduce his sentence to five years max.  Even less if he pays the funeral expenses..

Typical Thai behaviour, and a good reason not to mess with married Thai ladies.

It's just so sad for these kids.

We have no idea how they were being raised, or how they will now be raised, but there's an argument for 'trying to normalise' the event.... which could cause it to happen again 20-30 years in the future. ????

Agree with you 100%. Just take a read of the following UK case dating back a couple of years for instance, which has hauntingly similar parallels to the case under discussion in this thread:-

https://news.sky.com/story/ex-headteacher-rhys-hancock-jailed-for-bllodbath-killing-of-estranged-wife-and-lover-12087089

In answer to your question, American (and, for that matter British) male egos are no doubt considered by the Thai-bashing brigade on here to be rock-solid without question. Only Thai male egos alone are, in their eyes, deemed to be fragile.

I would suggest that it wouldn't be a good idea to mess with any married ladies, regardless of their nationality
