hi, so funny how foreigners who do not drive better than thai keep complaining...

 

just look at pattaya immigration, all these old trashes parking anywhere because they do not want to pay 40thb car park. Wow, quality immigrants, the same kind that we have in EU !

 

They even park in front of the office without warning, and without knowing that some day they will regret it...

And so the ‘blurred vision commences’...   you have seen a handful of foreigners poorly parking at Jomtien Immigration you have made the assumption and projected that ALL foreigners drive as poorly in Thailand ????... hmmmm

The reality... 

Most Thai’s drive well and with consideration. 

But, there are plenty who are dangerous, reckless idiots and make the roads unsafe for everyone else. 

There is also a minority of foreigners who also drive like idiots. 

There is also the ‘culturally learned’ habits which mean many Thai’s who have not received training are unaware of the simple risks they are placing themselves and others in at times when driving. 

 

As far as parking - in some area’s its a horrible all over Thailand. 

Often little thought is given to parking. 

 

Even CP now are building new 7-11’s with decent parking in front, then the parking area gets taken up with a 5-star chicken stall, a noodle stall, then a few more street vendors.... and before we know it people are forced to park on the road again.....

So your entire summation of the driving skills of every single driving foreigner in Thailand is based on a snapshot observation of how they park their cars outside of Pattaya immigration office.

 

I mean if they have parked their cars its very debatable that they are actually driving them at the time of your observation isn't?  Is a parked car being driven?

I park my car at Samutprakarn Immigration and pride myself on only using up two parking bays.

If only I lived in Pattaya, I could also park in front of the office without warning (whatever that means).  ????

Re the OP.

 

My immigration office is at Kamphaeng Phet and recently moved once again making the 4th time.

 

At each site there has always been parking available with easy access all round.

 

The only time people parked in front of the office is because that was where the dedicated parking slots were.

 

I suggest that the OP actually tries looking around other IO offices in Thailand.

 

The worst parking that I remember was at Suan Phlu, but that was some 15 or 20 years ago when I was last there.

I had stop being a passenger with one of my friends always driving too fast, too close  cars ahead , constantly accelerating  and Braking but always criticising thais! He has no idea - just white farang arrogance.  He's a dangerous  driver but blames only Thais.

One of many but I am thinking of one in particular yes. But he typifies so many foreigners here who drive  atrociously!  You only need to see the bikes and cars parked outside  farang bars to see the amount of  drunk drivers that  are foreigners.

I have never seen a foreigner driving up a main road in the wrong direction or checking their Facebook account while driving.

Please explain the high death toll on the roads in Thailand, are you going to blame that on your 'friend'?

Where someone parks a vehicle has very little to do with their overall ability to drive.

OP must be a newbie as parking is mostly unorganized here and people mostly park wherever they can find a spot, or wherever.

I stopped at a light cross after see a falang doing stupid driving on his motorbike, not looking for the  dead spots at all, and therefore choosed not to pass him. Told gently to be careful while driving and double check before changing line, but all I got back was <deleted> and also wanted to punch my face ????. Well hope he still alive and not killed anyone yet.

 

I had my proper training and experience driving big bike, and it was just an friendly polite heads up. But it is the same response when you tell someone to be careful with a girl you know. Not able to listen

Me personally I would park on 2nd or beach rd and walk down to Immigration. I wouldn't even begin to try to find parking on Soi 5, 40thb or otherwise.

What an unbelievably simplistic post. First I would make the point that driving and parking are two quite different undertakings. Second, as a foreigner, I can say I drove infinitely more careful than alot of Thais. Whatever that is worth. 

 

But, I would like to stop and thank you for referring to us as foreigners. That is kind and considerate. I will not use the other F word anymore. It does start to feel a bit disrespectful and possibly racist, after awhile.
