Well

A: Starmer is only one of the opposition’s leaders.

B: the tories electing truss as party leader won’t be a miracle, just an act of self destruction.

Let’s hope an early election is called before she does too much damage to the U.K. though.

At least she hasn't got two left feet to worry about, or members of the front bench going on picket lines that do absolutely sod all except p_ss folk off....

Oh truss’ ineptitude is going to <deleted> off plenty of people in the country if she gets the top job.

The opposition know this and I suspect are praying the tories are stupid enough to put her in place.

Respect? Just as “beer Starmer” has been viewed respectable for you?

Stop grammar police trolling and get on topic.

I spelled Starmer with a capital "S", because I am not an angry socialist trying to be childish, plus I was taught at school how and when to use a capital letter ...????

Truss is quite obviously trying to package herself as the second coming of Maggie Thatcher.

Apropos of that, I think it was Hegel who remarked that world-historic personages appear twice. The first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.

Actually it was Karl Marx who said it, although he did say it in reference to Hegel.

The actual words (in translation) are:

Quote

Hegel remarks somewhere that all great world-historic facts and personages appear, so to speak, twice. He forgot to add: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.

The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte. Karl Marx 1852

Excellent news for the opposition, dreadful news for the country.

Her tax plans will strip public services of the funds they need while driving up inflation.

The inevitable outcome will be increased interest rates hitting home buyers and all who are struggling with debt.
