Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
I will preface this by saying I know zip, zilch, nada about German pensions and DTAs. That said, the major disconnect (based solely upon what's written in your post) appears to be article 18-2, where it states "... pensions and other payments for past employment as well as annuities paid out of funds created by a Contracting State (Germany) ... shall be exempt from Tax in the other Contracting State (Thailand)." Earlier in the post you mentioned you have a small German "state pension"....is that an old age pension that is available to everyone, by chance? If so, perhaps article 18-2 is to be taken literally in that pensions and other payments for past employment is germane. In other words, if your state pension isn't directly connected to employment then article 18-2 doesn't apply. If that's the case, then it appears the DTA and the letter you received would be in agreement. If not, then pursue another avenue, I suppose. Good luck. -

All Hail Trump ... the 2nd Coming
All Hail ... anoher President Trump win Paraphrased from numerous news channels, maybe. Mine usually can't be linked, so just my opinion, or what might have happen, or been reported ... Meta to pay Trump $25 million to settle censorship lawsuit – media ... 22M to his library fund ... rest to legal fees Relating to lawsuit when bounced off Meta's platform (s). Along with Meta discontinues use of 3rd part fact checker service, and in their words, possibly ... ... "Zuckerberg acknowledged that the services had been “too politically biased” and “have destroyed more trust than they’ve created.” ... IMHO, I think that translate into ... 'it doesn't fit our left agenda, so it's false and or offensive ... DELETED' Tell us what we didn't already know -

My Gov, the app
You can get one posted to you by a friend or relative. I have an Aldi SIM for Australia, a Truemove SIM for Thailand. Both pay as you go. Topping up phone credit with an Aldi SIM is about as easy as it gets. I don't use apps on my phone, I prefer a laptop. -

Due to Thai Night-Sky Loss: I am planning a move to the Gobi Desert. For the stars…
The lack of stellar clarity in the tropics has more to do with the humidity than anything else. The clearest skies I have ever seen have been in the central step of Kazakhstan and also on the south Island of New Zealand.
