Siam Rath reported on the case of a 14 year old girl named only as "Nadia" who has been missing from the house she shares with her mother and brother in Udon Thani.

The mother, Nareumol said that her daughter was at the home of a rich "sia" or businessman in the area who has a construction business.

A friend of her daughter said she is giving sex to the man for 500 baht a time.

And she is there with four or five other girls.

Naruemol has appealed to the Department of Special Investigation and in a latest move was appealing to anti-human trafficking authorities in a bid to get her daughter back home.

You have no idea how much this 'dream' is prevalent on many men's minds, some even call it the fountain of youth...

The family should take some responsibility for not keeping a closer watch on the girl.

Sadly not an uncommon thing to happen in Thailand.

I wouldn't wish feminism on any society, but Thailand would definitely benefit from being a little nicer to women and girls.

And when did the mother report this to the police? And what did the police do?

Looking at other articles here he should be charged with people trafficking and all that.

Come on reporters, follow up on that one.

Or did the mother do nothing?

I think we should also think about why some girls seem to prefer that compared to their family. IMHO that can only happen if something is seriously wrong with that family.

This kind of stuff would not be occurring if the businessman got ten years in the slammer. Not likely in Thailand, though.

Firstly I fully agree its not on my menu..

But I dont see anyone twisting thier arms either, they want to sell themselves for the spending money, they want the phones, handbags and flash cash that comes from that lifestyle. This is (for the extreme vast majority) a choice they are making.

Or something "wrong" with the girl's value system.  Whether that's from parents or Thai society, is another question.  One thing we know is that Thais love money and prostitution is not exactly frowned upon.

Way to victim blame.

Whilst it may be true the vast majority of these types of cases are due to issues and troubles at home, there really is no excuse for hebephilia (sex with minors between ages 11 and 14) or pedophilia or ephebophilia (sexual with adolescents between 15 and 16) from the perpetrators.

The responsibility is not with the children; it's with the adults.

I am unsure that 'victim' blaming is an appropriate term when the victim is the one willingly advertising and going out there to seek and request the customers.. Theres LOADS of teenage girls out on the batter here, students hooking for handbags and iPhones, seeking sugar daddies, FWB arrangements etc etc.. They are hardly trafficked into the trade, they are the ones making a direct choice of what they want, they value the material goods over any moral hangup or chaste attitudes. Its cultural no point imposing western morals on them or holding them to some divine standard.

Hell when a teenage niece ran away with her older boyfriend and after a couple of days afraid to go home turned up at our door the gran (40s, maybe 50 !!) turned up screaming mad "why you give your virgin away you stupid girl.. You never give your pussy away.. You need to make him pay you for it" lovely woman she was !!

It is not a 14 year old's choice to make.

It's not cultural when it's against the law.

The legal age for sex in Thailand is 15 (about a year younger than most other western nations) so until the child reaches that age then there really isn't any question of who is/isn't to blame; they are NOT considered adults so the real adults have to take responsibility and also the blame.

I remember being 14 and really, really wanting to drive. Guess what? I couldn't because I was too young. Likewise with this subject, it doesn't matter a jot what the child wants or does, it's illegal and the adults should know this and be held responsible and we should all be holding ourselves and those responsible to these high moral standards that you so glibbly discard.

And it IS victim blaming when you blame a child for their actions in matters such as this.
