Umm in the USA?  If that happened to an illegal overstayer he would have lawyers begging him for business , probably sue and win. Then he would get a statue somewhere.

Upset the neighbours with his behaviour, and they reported him. Then causes a stand off with the police and tries to pull down power lines.

Doesn't say how long the couple had overstayed,  but he certainly hasn't done his case any good if he he had any chance of returning sometime in  the future. 

 

The IO stated likely deported and blacklisted.

He was acting irrationally, he was a danger to himself and others, the police in Germany wouldn't have acted differently. The man obviously has mental issues and wasn't open to a peaceful settlement. He chose to overstay and is now suffering the consequences.

Overstay is a serious problem in any country.

 

Go over in Australia and the search to find you starts immediately and is very serious and they find 99% of overstayers very quickly. There's no 'if it's not convenient now, when should we come back?' 

 

Except my country of UK, it seems. But only if you enter illegally in the first place.

From what I can see, he's brought it all on himself.  Given his behaviour both before and after arrest, I'm not at all surprised at his treatment.  He's been causing problems for his neighbours and generally behaving like a git. The way he was handled was not because he was an overstayer - it was because of his behaviour.

 

What was he expecting - a visa extension?

 

Never mind, he'll have a few days eating slop and sharing a room with 20 other people, enjoying all the niceties of an immigration jail whilst he contemplates what a d*%k he's been. Next, a lifetime ban before being returned to his homeland that is just entering winter!
