Daily News Thai Caption: But it's so nice here!

Daily News reported from the south of Thailand where immigration police busted several foreigners on the holiday island of Koh Phangan.

In their headline and picture caption they made light of the issue intimating that the reason for the overstay and illegality was that the sea there was so beautiful.

Chief of region 6 of the Immigration Bureau Pol Maj-Gen Praphansak Prasansuk sent in his deputies led by chief of Surat Thani immigration Pol Col Suphraprik Phankosol.

Found having been illegally staying in the kingdom was Kaewinthong L. from Laos.

Arrested on overstay were two Europeans.

A Russian named Alexander M. had overstayed by 29 days.

A French woman called Ophelia C. (name transliterated from Thai and possibly incorrect) had overstayed by 93 days.

Colonel Suphraprik said this was all part of keeping Thailand safe and both Thais and foreign lawbreakers were on his radar.

He asked for people with tips to call Surat Thani immigration on 07 738 0881/2 or contact the local immigration website.

Might want to set up a visit in Koh Phuket as well, there might be a few that prefer not to return to Moscow.....

If people knew how bad the conditions are at IDC and how difficult it might be for some to pay for their hugely overpriced plane ticket home (which can only be purchased through IDC with a massive mark up) they would probably not play the overstay game. IDC is a true horror show of human rights violations. Avoid it at all costs!!

Samui and Koh Pha Ngan are full of foreigners on overstay or incorrect visas - many are operating shonky massage or healing operations. some are working gyms - all think they are above the law and most serve no benefit except their own

I bet the Russian is not looking forward to going home, straight into the military

fancy island of laughing shrooms and full moon parties.

I heard that the position at that Eldorado place is about a million thb -> cos' its a freaking gold mine: drugs, illegals, whatever - instant cash flow.

Back in 2008 dude was arrested for possesion of 210 pills. After 50K they reduced to 49, and later 19.

Some choice... Go home to (potentially) be sent to the front line or sit the war out in a Thai Immigration Detention center!

Earlier this week at Jomtien Beach, I was seated near a young Russian who was on his phone continuously for over an hour. Strange behaviour for a tourist don't you think ?

I have heard from reliable sources that many eastern Europeans buy their way around Immigration rules .

It is considered quite a routine business.

Read this forum.... all the questions asking for agents etc

So many forum members themselves are also doing the same thing and ‘buying themselves’ a way around the immigration rules...

And... IF Thai Elite is not ‘exactly buying our way around immigration rules’ then... :whistling:

Don’t hate the player, hate the game !!!  - Immigration, want things exactly this way - its how they make some money !!...

Seeing it in a fictional perspective, I would not have any fictional problem with such decision.

A foreigner overstays and they parade him with proud officers behind him as if they have caught a master criminal thats alluded them for decades. This happens all the time in all countries and is hardly headlines.

What is your problems with that?

Do you want innocent Russian citizens to participate in a war that they do not want?

When USA attacked Iraq and whatsoever, you talked like that about US people living here as well?

Stop dividing people even more. People like you are the reason why this world is such a mess in the first place.

The problem is that despite Thailand's tough behavior against tourists (which they need, even if they do not wanna admit it) and even often being hostile against expats with families in Thailand, people are still flocking into Thailand in masses.

Supply and demand. Immigration can be tough, there is an endless supply of cash cows.

Other poorer countries which are not so over-runned with tourists are happy about any of them. If you overstay there, you get a slip on the wrist and can continue your things.

So yeah, while on the one hand it is a joke that this is any news, on the other hand Thailand can afford such a behavior. In the end it is still one of the most sough-after holiday places in the world.

The country of Georgia literally offers 1-year-visas on arrival for most citizens. But no one wanna live there.

Was the real Putin captured as well.
