Yes I ask about the alcohol ban as the only places who do not sell alcohol are supermarkets. Bars and restaurants everywhere openly sell alcohol all afternoon and always have. 2

Do they think people can’t get drunk enough by midnight to be a danger? Those who want to will drink as much as they can before midnight, no problem. A 'friend' of mine is usually very drunk before 10 most nights, so I don't think she's too concerned with government time limits. Nor is anyone else, actually, except the Anti-Fun Police. 1

In SOME places bars can sell up to 2am. NO SALES after that. I don't believe that "English" belongs in any criticism of the comprehensibility of the OP. It's "Thailish". 1
Popular Post paulikens Posted December 23, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2022 The way the thai government talk you'd think thailand was a country full of alcoholics when they drink no more than a lot of countries but of course they don't want to address the real issue which is making the police enforce the drink driving laws and educating thai people on all aspects of road safety. also the sentences for drink driving are way too lenient anyway. 3 3 1
Robert Tyrrell Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Good Evening ???? Put alcohol on the Narcotics List and make it illegal ???? 55555 ????

digger70 Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 They can make laws for whatever they want/Like, But, But who cares Care factor zero If people want to drink they Will find a way to Buy/Get the drink/alcohol.

That certainly was the case in rural Northern Thailand where I used to live, especially on Sundays when roast lunches were on the menu. Food served from noon onwards with the bar providing beers and spirits into the evening!

Surasak Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 There must be a special breeding ground for government idiots who think up these crazy restrictions.

DJ54 Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 New Year’s Eve is amateur drinking night…. Serous drinkers beware….

It's just very selective enforcement as usual. Midnight was never a standard for 50 years. Pattaya's hours have changed so much nobody is really sure when you should close. Does it not depend on the thickness of the brown envelopes?
Elkski Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 So they think that most Thais get the news and read this idea? In moo nans the person down the street or the store sells all day long.
brommers Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 Interesting that they refer to alcohol as a drug. Isn't the chaos around marijuana a clear indication that the government and the MOPH has no idea what it is doing! I suppose I am staying the obvious, sorry.

Peterw42 Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 It will be business as usual. The Government has to be seen to be toning things down because the kings daughter is in critical condition in hospital.

No one has ever stopped alcohol sales in the afternoons except supermarkets and over many years Pattaya has had so many close times the mind boggles. I was always under the impression that the ban was to stop kids buying alcohol on the way home from schools but with mom & pop stores that was irrelevant anyway. The point is I was always under the impression that there were laws, whether they were followed or not.
