shackleton Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 They were saying he is a popular guy Well someone was not happy with him for what ever reason Let's hope the police can identify the killer as mentioned Robbery not the case Some one wanted him dead
Topah Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Horrible news. I hope they catch whoever ordered this murder. Check the ladys phone. 1

NemoH Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Relationship, businesss or spur of moment. Seems too well planned n pre-meditated. So it still is relationship or business. May he RIP.
Popular Post soi3eddie Posted January 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 6, 2023 Nobody knows if he had cash at home. A retired engineer unlikely to be involved in a cash business. Try getting £20K GBP out of a UK bank account these days - almost impossible! Carrying it in cash by plane carries a risk of seizure by UK authorities if detected (unless you have withdrawal receipt/statement) or possible theft in transit too. Girlfriend could have paid for a hired hit for some reason (likely financial if so). 50/50 in my opinion as to whether a hired hit or mistaken identity. Are the Thai cops really bothered about investigating? Not likely. RIP Mr Neil. 2 1 1
LennyW Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Probably completely random, take a drive around these back roads of Huay Yai, a great many of the road signs are full of bullet holes! 1

itsari Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Grim story indeed . Motives Quarrel at the shop the deceased bought food from ? The woman in the mans life ? I do hope we learn more of this crime , often there is no follow up on this media outlet .
jimrod Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 4 hours ago, smedly said: can you not read, you obviously have no clue - like I said in my post - who benefits financially from his death - it's called motive and in Thailand when farangs are murdered it is almost always a financial motive - someone gains alot of money and thinks they will get away with it - cash that nobody knows about (not banked) Do you have stats to back that up? ‘Almost always’ is in excess of 90%. That doesn’t sound like an ‘opinion’ to me. As for bringing a lot of cash, most retired people who have shared there finances with me have a monthly income. Clearly people can and will speculate. Mistaken identity, as already mentioned, a drug crazed lunatic or even a callus lunatic. I’m just glad you’re not investigating this case. 1 1
Shop mak Posted January 6, 2023 Posted January 6, 2023 Hope camera's will show why he took the detour to Pratumnak area. Something doesn't make sense with that. Who followed after him, the long way home? This case is probably in media worldwide soon, so RTP will work hard to solve this mystery, and I think they will. Don't want to speculate now, too much unknown at this point. RIP. 2

Part of his job description, no doubt. Reminds of a post here once about a foreigner who ran a factory employing a security guard, and on his first night on the job he showed up with a pillow and blanket - and he's probably still wondering why he was fired before he even started. 1 4

This being Thailand it could just as easily been somebody angry because he looked at him the wrong way or some incident on the roadway. A guy once chased me down and threatened me with a knife because I got in his way somehow. When I read such speculation as there has been on this forum I can only question the degree of toxicity some must have encountered in the past that then then judge everything and everyone else on their own poisonous experiences and suspicious... ...That a number of posters are immediately pointing the finger towards the carer leads one to suspect that they themselves in the past have been such poor judges of character they have made terrible choices or they contributed to the toxicity they find themselves influenced by. 6 1

Yup.... All the local Burmese guys will start worrying about now... 23 minutes ago, Shop mak said: Don't want to speculate now, too much unknown at this point. Agreed... So much unknown... Wrong identity to wrong place wrong time.... many possible motives and reasons without any idea at the moment. I hope this is solved quickly and honestly to at least bring some form of justice to his family who must be hurting terribly after this barbaric act. RIP ‘Popular British Gent’.... 3

It said he had no enemies, yet he apparently wasn't robbed so the shooter was very deliberate in this shooting and wanted the man dead. I hope they find the attacker and give him what he deserves. RIP. I think that you are making a few big assumptions there . People don't get assassinated for nothing, unless its a case of mistaken identity. I suspect that there is much more to this than has been reported. 1
Popular Post ed strong Posted January 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 6, 2023 The fact that he had just returned from the UK makes this even more suspicious. Something was planned for when he came back. Life is cheap in Thailand (and many other countries) RIP to the guy. 1 2 1

He could then easily drive to his home in Huay Yai via Thepprasit rd.

With the amount of Yabba heads riding around etc... its not far fetched to suspect this could be something as simple as wrong place wrong time, looking at the wrong person, even overtaking the wrong person on the bike... ... This could have been something incredibly random... Or one or or a combination of a multitude of many other reasons.... gang initiation to a hired hit... etc... This must be horrific for his loved ones. 2

Popular Post rumak Posted January 6, 2023 Popular Post Posted January 6, 2023 Road rage does occur here . A farang was shot dead at an intersection in Chiangmai (many years ago now) . He was on a motorcycle and shouted at a guy driving a car . I also had a car stop , him pulling off the hiway and waiting for me (on cycle) because he thought i had given him the finger . I actually had just raised my arm , like one can do when thinking "look at that <deleted> driving like that" . i was not near him, nor could i see who was in the car.......... but he saw me and thought i gave him the finger. Luckily i stopped and headed another way as he was running towards me. Think of this post before you start something on the road. 4
