A French motorbike rider in Patong was fined 1,500 baht before being reported to the French embassy after he caused a public nuisance.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that a video clip of foreign motorbike racers near Bangla Road had gone viral on social media again this week. One of them was seen on video doing wheel spins causing lots of smoke.

 

On Wednesday, (March 1st), the Patong Police tracked one of them down who was identified by police as Mr. Sofiane Ouenzerfi, 32, a French national.

reporting him to his own embassy will have zero consequence.

Was he running from something?  he is French after all (apologies for English humour I love France really).

Wonder if this dimwit, like thousands of others here in Thailand think that all us bystanders are so impressed?  Is it their way to express their perceived 'Alpha male' status? An ego boost?  Nobody is impressed, rather everyone just thinks you lot are complete w*****s and annoying as hell. 

It seems the Police didn't charge him adequately and let him off with just a 1500 baht fine. Surely he could have charged with multiple offenses like: reckless driving; not sharing the road, excessive noise; excessive pollution; danger action, etc.; then applying the maximum penalty in each charge, or jail until a court appearance to answer the charges.

 

 

They were all out of single use plastic bags so the covered his face with parcel tape?

hmm.......    I doubt I’m not the only one who read the headline which included the following key words:

Hoping to give myself a slap on the wrist for being so bigoted and bias.... I looked for the name of offending French-man, but really knowing this fella is unlikely to going to be going by the name of Jean-Pierre !!!!... Sofiane Ouenzerfi.....   Sadly, negative bias further confirmed..... Thailand itself is often the perfect echo-chamber.....

A lot of bystanders ARE impressed - I've sat in a bar on the main Kamala drag strip and the bar girls (and a few of the punters) get all excited when an Xmax shows off when the lights turn green - assuming that he bothered waiting for that!

And the guy in to OP has had his status improved immensely amongst his peers by this - he'll probably get a blown-up framed picture from that photo and brag about it when he gets home.
