What are the African guys standing outside Nana BTS doing everynight?

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

I go to Bkk once a month and noticed several times when walking past the BTS stations/ streets around Nana area that there are many African guys standing there staring at people walking past.

One time I noticed a few of them arguing really loud at each other and the thai seller close by was not impressed at all.

Non racial tone here. Just interested in why they are there everynight. Anyone know?

If you were standing on a corner in Nairobi, I could probably pick you out

  • You missed a great opportunity. It was a Nigerian prince with his entourage and he needs someone to help him get his huge $$$ inheritance out of the country.   I have an email to prove it.

How on earth did you know they were African?  Were they having a hearty old laugh at the good old days of apartheid?

Why would you want to associate with them ?

Drugs....mainly prescription type stuff like Xanax.....they always come across as quite polite and never hassle you......... in my experience......probably here illegally and want to minimise attention.

In Helsinki, there used to be Africans hanging outside the train station all the time. Maybe that's their culture.

Probably lottery winning princes looking for romance ????

Is this a trolling post? They ask me do I want coke every time I walk past them. I presumed they did that to every Westerner under 60. Do I look rich, do I look like a junkie or do I look like a mug? ????

Well, they sure as <deleted> are not from Iceland.

Maybe you look like the type who takes drugs - whatever that type may be.

I live in that area since almost 30 years, and I see them regularly. I heard they sell drugs. But they never ever asked me if I want to buy any. They also didn't (try to) talk to me about anything else.

I would have thought that the market for smokeless fuels was very limited Bangkok.

Just a steel drum band.  They arrived ok but their instruments never turned up.

Recognize any of them ?

Maybe it's their culture to hang around outside with similar guys.

Sometimes I see then alone or two together and rumor is they sell drugs.

But recently there are often maybe 20 of them in front of what used to be the Amari hotel in Soi 5 opposite Foodland. I go often to Foodland, at no specific time, and they seem to be there most of the time. No idea what they are doing.

I just tell them, "no sir, I'm a Pepsi man myself" and just keep on walking.

Well done.  You won/broke the topic.  It was already all wrong because Mac made a hilarious comment.

I used to buy ice from a guy named Peter, he was from Nigeria. He used to deliver me at Thonglo BTS mostly but will hang around in Soi 3. I used to live close to Thonglo BTS. It was 2011. Once I was caught near Nana, walking erratically and very high. Have to pay 10K to get out after siting all  night in Lumpini police station. Police wanted to know who was my supplier. I kept telling them I bought it from a Nana girl and I don't know her phone number or whereabouts.
