I hope you are not saying its OK to use an agent! Plenty do. If it wasn't for the Chinese I'm guessing it would be business as usual. Thailand is corrupt top to bottom. Corruption here is endemic and part of the culture. Many years ago some papers in let's just say a government agency couldn't be found. By 'mistake' I left some money under some other docs of mine, went out to get something to drink, came back, money gone; papers found. 6 1
rbkk Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Big Joke prepares cases against 116 corrupt immigration men.....107 Immigration police reported to Corruption Commission.....109 Thai immigration officers over illegal issuing of visas... Keep looking and they will realize that it is a national problem not confined to just those regional offices.
Popular Post tomacht8 Posted March 10, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 10, 2023 100,000 pages / 116 officers = 862 pages on average per case. If that also reflects the number of individual cases of bribery, billions of baht must have been collected and lying around somewhere. Then the assets of the corrupt IOs should also be confiscated. 3

I used to see Khon Kaen IOs regularly park their marked car outside BIg C's door, walk in an buy gold. Absolutely no shame, it's about time they got their comeuppance. Not only them, but the Thai agents that coordinate with the foreign criminals who don't qualify to stay here. 3 1 1

markclover Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 They only need one case of corruption not 10,000. Any normal member of the public would be put in a cage by now. 1

Corruption in immigration offices is not a victimless crime. When people pay money to circumvent the law, those who abide by the law and follow the rules often end up being treated like second- and third-class customers because we provide no supplementary financial incentives to receive service. The same is true for those who use agents in order to circumvent bank deposit requirements. Again, this is not a harmless and victimless crime. Let the self justifying whinging begin. Oh the injustice! When the crime is/was requiring 800,000 thb in a bank account, made up by the real criminals. There's one born every minute. fill in the missing word. 2
