Popular Post snoop1130 Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 A network of 12 children’s and family’s rights groups, tobacco, alcohol and cannabis research institutes have disclosed results of their opinion poll, which shows that the majority of respondents disagree with political parties’ policies for liberalisation of alcohol, e-cigarettes, cannabis and gambling. Professor Dr. Sawitri Assanangkornchai, director of the Centre of Alcohol Statistics, said today (Tuesday) that a survey of people aged over 18 across the country shows that 56.1% of the respondents oppose the decriminalisation of cannabis, while over half disagree with the household use of cannabis and the growing of cannabis in the backyard. 55.5% of the respondents also disagree with the removal of the restriction on the sale of alcohol during specific hours and more than half of alcohol drinkers oppose the proposal to liberalise alchol production. Popular Post tomazbodner Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 Doesn't look good for Anutin's goal of becoming next Prime Minister. If only stoned farang could vote, he might have a better chance! 2 1 1 1 9
Popular Post madmitch Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 Given the demographic of the pollsters, I'd have expected the opposition of these policies to show a higher percentage than the results indicate. 4 1

Seems strange when all I see on a daily basis are people drinking, smoking, vaping, gambling and doing weed. Rather goes against the poll, unless the only people you polled were your own members. 5 6 5
daveAustin Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Quote Meanwhile, Assist Professor Dr. Wit Kasemsap, director of the Tobacco Control, Research and Knowledge Management Centre (TRC), said that an opinion poll on proposed legalisation of e-cigarettes shows that 47% of the respondents agree that such proposal is more harmful than useful to the public Bet he’s not getting brown envelopes from the fag makers. Why even bother asking for his lopsided opinion, or any in this fudged poll for that matter? Ask a teetotaller should alcohol be banned, blah blah. 2
Popular Post bradiston Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 Seems anyone can set up a "Centre", a "Committee", or whatever, on whatever subject, and start to publish uncredited stats about anything. In a recent survey by the Centre for Managing and Surveying Surveys, 99.9% of respondents agreed. 1 2
Popular Post spidermike007 Posted March 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 14, 2023 The poll was likely limited to the people who work in the department that controls alcohol. There is about a zero percent chance the public would support the silly, juvenile, draconian rules regarding the prohibition of purchasing alcohol during certain hours, or on certain holidays. Zero. 5 3

Don't know about that and find it unlikely. You are just blowing hot exhaust gasses.. There are many religious people in the public of Thailand who assuredly would oppose the selling of alcohol on religious days, as well as less religious types who would have reservations about it being sold all night long. I do find the silliness of alcohol sale restrictions in the mornings and mid afternoon as overkill. Some people do their shopping about then! 1 4 1
Popular Post mikebell Posted March 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2023 Most sensible adults would support the easing of these daft rules; the problem is there is a dearth of such people in Thailand. 1 2 1

Popular Post ChrisY1 Posted March 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2023 Many "polls" conducted, must reflect the governments position.....this poll is one of them! Thais love gambling....love drinking....almost all men in the provinces smoke....and growing weed is the new crop! 1 2 1
Popular Post Bday Prang Posted March 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2023 "more than half of alcohol users opposed proposals to liberalise alcohol production" I find that very hard to believe, and, how could they be sure that those they asked were alcohol users? maybe they were drunk. I wonder what the question was ? something along the lines of.... "Would you, as a responsible drinker, like to be able to enjoy a wider range of beers including artisan type brews" ? And the answer ? words to the effect of ..... "No of course not, we are happy with the low quality stuff currently available, you can keep that fancy stuff" another adding "no need to relax opening hours either, we don't want to be able to buy it when we want it and neither should tourists This survey is about as much use as all the other surveys reported on here. I doubt very much if anybody ever actually gets asked a single question in any of these supposed surveys. Call me cynical but I am far more inclined to think that they just publish whatever results the person or organization paying for the "survey" instructs them to. The activities listed are all exclusively "adult only" anyway and as such children's "groups" should be minding their own business, if they want to be seen to be earning their funding, they should be doing something useful, like going out and catching some paedos instead of constantly trying to force their puritanical misery onto the rest of society. Cant see that "family rights groups" have much relevance here either they would be better occupied trying to promote contraception although maybe they worry that might put them out of a job 1 2

You should check your own exhaust gasket first, There are nowhere near enough teetotal anti alcohol zealots in Thailand to produce those sort of results in any sort of a truly representative poll. A child would realise that, even a Thai child And why would these religious people be opposed to the sale of alcohol on religious days, yet evidently be perfectly ok with alcohol being consumed on the same days , as consumption is not illegal 1 1 2

Popular Post jonclark Posted March 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2023 If we live in a pluralist society then what the majority want is irrelevant and cannot impose their views, morals or way of thinking on those in a minority. 55% dislike alcohol, cannabis and gambling - fine, the people that make up the 55% do not need to advocate or take part in those activities. But let those who do, get on with it in a safe and considerate way. Thus we all live together and enjoy our respective lives - This is not a winner take all argument and those who seek to make it into one are damaging the nation in a way far greater than the alleged evils they seek to curtail by creating social and political division by through their moral crusades. 2 1 1

geisha Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 I see an awful lot of stoned people walking about , the cannabis trend has taken over Thailand. Not sure this will attract the tourists the government like , and I’m sure it’s bad news for Thailand in the long run. PS, I am not anti cannabis. 1 1 1
Popular Post Enzian Posted March 15, 2023 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2023 If more than half of alcohol drinkers oppose a proposal to liberalize the rules of alcohol production, that means they support the present monopolistic system, which means the slaves love their chains... which is entirely possible here I admit. 3

I wonder where you go and so on because i never see them. I do see a lot of drunks and car crashes involving alcohol. If they want to ban something alcohol would be better to ban. You can sometimes recognize if someone is stoned by their eyes. Its much harder to see then a drunk person as it impairs movement. Do you look up close in their eyes or ? 1 1
