Wichit, Phuket – A Ukrainian woman was arrested after she spray painted anti-Russia statements on rocks and benches at a famous viewpoint in Wichit.

Local residents in Wichit complained that many places at the popular Khao Khad Viewpoint were sprayed with red spray paint, professing anti-Russian views .

 

The Wichit Police checked CCTV footage nearby and on Friday morning (April 7th) a 34-year-old Ukrainian was arrested and taken to the Wichit Police Station. Her name was not released by Thai police.

 

The Wichit Police Chief Colonel Chatree Chookaew told the Phuket Express that the Ukrainian woman said she stayed in Thailand for three months now and plans to return to Ukraine on April 10th. She did not mean to damage Phuket’s image but told Thai police she only wanted to show her views about the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.

 

She has promised police that she wont do this again if she visits Phuket or Thailand in the future.

Phuket police yesterday morning arrested a Ukrainian woman for spray painting slogans critical of Russia at a popular viewpoint.

 

The 34 year old woman spray painted “#Russia is a terrorist state,” and “#Russia” on rocks and a bench at Khao Khad Viewpoint in the Wichit sub-district of Phuket’s main city district.

 

Wichit Police tracked the woman down through CCTV footage. Officers arrested her and brought her to Wichit Police Station to charge her with vandalism.

 

Wichit Police Chief Colonel Chatree Chookaew said the woman told police that she did not mean to “destroy the image of Phuket in any way,” but only wanted to express her views on Russia’s aggression toward her country. She has promised not to repeat her actions if she visits Phuket or Thailand in the future.

Who remembers that Scouser in Chiang Mai? Spray painting that wall, didn't he get some jail?

I don't remember this case. But I know what to spray to earn a few years.

Can not be discussed here.

Or was it just damaging a cultural site?

 

I don't expect this Ukrainian to get severe fine or the like.

But Thai government is sure not keen to fight a foreign war with paroles here. Bad for business.

Also, grafitti on a Koh Chang road if memory serves me right? Why is she not deported?

How can you unintentionally buy spray paint and then graffiti in multiple places but not mean too. I say make her physically clean and remove it all and then charge her, fine her and blacklist her. Absolute scum when people think it's OK to destroy other people's property.

If she did that in Singapore likely get the cane.

she should be made to clean all the paint off, locked up, fined, deported and banned from entry again.

My link to a news source which is not allowed here on Aseannow basically showed a report from 9th February, with a picture of red grafitti, on rocks from the same area. They have finally caught the culprit and to me it shows a repeated pattern of criminality. After jail time straight to the airport/banned in my book, same as all the previous idiots.

Just a vandal plain and simple.

Charge according to the law.

protest your plight by all means, but not by defacing property in a foreign country.

Imagine what any country would look like if we all just wanted to express our views by spray painting every available wall space.

Personally make her scrub it off vandalism is what it is ! Send her back go fight if it means that much too her !  instead of laying around on ⛱️ spraying graffiti on bridges or landmarks in country your holidaying in while others are dieing for Ukraine or Russia ! unless you're conscientious objector to war , make peace sign ☮️✌️ plaque

Destroy? Perhaps you mean deface? The rocks and concrete she painted are still there you know.

Tell that to the Russians, not the Thais. I support the Ukrainian struggle, but see this sort of behaviour as totally counter productive in gaining support for the cause.

Good too see this. I can't understand why Russians...who mostly supported or still  support Puttin are allowed to travel anywhere! They should NOT be welcome anywhere! 

 

Instead they stroll around Pattaya and Phuket like they own the <deleted> place!
