◼︎British teenager was found dead after going out with a girl on a motorbike
◼︎Thai police have said Ben may have been the victim of a phone robbery

A British teenager has been found dead with head wounds in a forest in Thailand as police begin the search for his missing girlfriend.

Woramet Ben Taota, 16, went for a motorcycle ride with Yam, also 16, in his hometown of Lampang on Saturday but did not return home.

Police have started a search for Yam (pictured), who was reportedly with Ben on Saturday

Local police said they received a report on Sunday morning that Ben had been found dead in a grove in the Ban Than district, with injuries resembling blunt force.

Officers reported that the teenager's phone and cash were missing from his shoulder bag, and suggested he might have been robbed.

They believe he was killed elsewhere and left in the woods as there were no signs of struggle. His partner has not been found as of Monday 8 May.

You must be new in Thailand.     It was obviously a rejected Thai male.   Almost certainly the girl rejected him in favor of the lukkreung.    With a very, very slig

Wow, may he RIP and my condolences to his family.  The police should be able to trace the GPS signal from his phone if they have the information for it.  Lets hope the girl is found and the case solved.

RIP, Ben.

I'm absolutely certain there's more to this story than simple robbery.

This is just breaking in UK press where the headline will grab a lot of attention despite the boy being basically Thai?  RIP to the young fella and hope that his girlfriend is found safe?

16 is far too young to die.

Rest In Peace.

Sincere condolences to family and friends.

16 with a 16 year old Thai gf. And I thought I got in the game early.

Just terrible. I think the rural areas away from the tourist spots are more dangerous. Most likely some desperate drug addict who was looking for a quick fix. And if it was some love triangle gone wrong, the same applies. Some rural male who loses his gf is in more desperate straits than one in more densely populated areas.

Almost certainly the girl rejected him in favor of the lukkreung.

With a very, very slight possibility of the killer being a rejected gay Thai boy.

Or it could have been one of their teachers that they interrupted on his/her way to rob the local gold shop with a shotgun.

Yeah I revised my post before you replied. I agree.

Why is a 16 yr old British kid travelling in Thailand alone.  There is absolutely no way I would let my child travel alone.

OH, here we go again with Messers Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot enthusiasts, RIP for the kid and let's not jump to any conclusions etc .  <deleted> ?

This is very tragic. No parent should ever have to bury their child. It certainly appears to be murder, most foul. Let us hope the superior minds at the RTP are able to solve this case soon.

I doubt that. It sounds like they were killed and robbed.

I wasn't traveling in Thailand alone. He lives here. He went to hang out with his GF like any normal teenager.

WTF! Thais are much better parents??

Well if you like your schooling and upbringing theories to be that of the Victorian era, it may well be.

But from my first hand experience of living with my Thai wife of 46 and her 10-year old daughter, I'd say the exact opposite is true.

All I know is that Thai Psychosis would make a great dissertation topic for a degree! And that in our town our hard pressed social services and police team are too underskilled at knowing how the Thai psychosis works to understand how to diagnose the 10year old fledgling psycho! I really can't be arsed with providing a sponsorship for their family visa much longer, seeing as they both show no respect to this country, other people around us along with me and my family. They do like Sterling however! No, not the useless Liverpool and Man City reject, but the financial variety of Sterling!

Yes, his name would suggest that.

You may wish to read the link, he is more Thai than British and lives in Thailand with his family.

Heart-wrenching. Lampang's mountains, river valleys, wildlife and national parks are an almost idyllic place to grow up. Young Ben appears to have had some success in Motocross competitions, too. RIP.

Reminds me, in ways, of the two young lads (6yo, 10yo or so) murdered in Pattaya, before Covid, by the jealous boyfriend of the girl temporarily staying with the family and of the 2 dozen pre-schoolers and 36 people the freak murdered in NB Lam Phu last October. Senseless, horrific, heart-breaking murders.

Hope the parents make it through, and the girl. Would be nice, in time, to set up a foundation to honor the boy's memory. We can all see ourselves in 16yo Ben. With hope, his final minutes and memory were ones of valor not betrayal. Memento mori.

RIP kid.   There is no mention of his motorbike's whereabouts, find that and with luck find Yam, sounds like an abduction maybe, rival boyfriend?

His phone and cash was missing…therefore the RTP make claim this murder was a phone robbery….maybe they didn’t think the missing girl was relevant!

Because he is half Thai, half Brit, born and living in Thailand ?
Reading more than a misleading ASEAN NOW headline might help ...

There is no such thing as a "Thai Psychosis", there is however a "Thai Psyche" and you seem to have confused the two...

Thai Psychosis: All Thai people are hallucinating and are deluded.

Thai Psyche: The Thai soul, mind, spirit.

When in doubt, highlight the word and search for its meaning, this will help your future posts appear more educated.

So, British Woramet was killed in Lamphang, his village.

Uh huh

A warning: If you continue to point out the errors of the illterate on aseannow, you will likely find little time for anything else.
