Intoxicated British Man Beaten by Two Thai Men in Pattaya

Featured Replies

5.10am and a Thai men drinking in a convenience store. Shop owner, Ms. Euaamporn Rattanamethakoson has a lot to answer for, Surely alcohol sales cease at 12 midnight!

If she hadn't sold alcohol the incident would not have happened. Throw the book at her and take away her alcohol licence!

Let the Thai-bashing begin, but before you do maybe the guy deserved it?   Maybe he was giving the Thai guys trouble?   Maybe he stole from the store and abused the staff?

  • always be respectful but the drunk farang did not deserve a beating - If a drunk starts something at 5am I give them a drunks pardon, harmless, these 2 young thai men didn't need much to act the way t

I freely admit that, to some extent, I do judge people by their appearance (clothes maketh the man) and this guy looks like a bad 'un.

At 05:10 apparently?

This is nothing to do with Thais and Brits.

****heads all over the world do it........talk themselves into a beating.

The severity of which is purely a matter of chance.

No controversy attached to this incident whatsoever.

It's what they do

Would it change any thing for the Brit next time he goes out drinking? probably not, but let's hope that he did learned his lesson.

In the almost 40 years I lived here, how comes this never happens to me? Just saying...

Be under no illusion, he would probably have got the same treatment, if not worse, in any British city.

Another pommy <deleted>- gets what he deserved

Deserved or not by his actions, it should never have happened. The shop owner is to blame for allowing alcohol sales and drinking at 5am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a Brit and I can assure you that many cannot hold their booze and become downright obnoxious after a few. When they get to a free and easy place like Thailand they completely lose it.

A very intelligent and well-educated guy I worked with many years ago explained that you can reason with the vast majority of people that are mis-behaving, but there are a few that only understand one thing, and that is a smack in the mouth!

OK then no Thai bashing (this time).

He's a Brit...of course he deserved it????

Living 10 years in Thailand now i never saw that a Thai person started a fight or verbal aggression with a farang. It was always the other way around. May be some of you have other experiences but in my opinion the average farang comes to Thailand and find himself superior over the Thai. Well, if you so much more intelligent, then avoid these kind of situations and you will be fine.

the 35-year-old British national was heavily intoxicated and continuously shouting and cursing at them, challenging first responders to fights.

1 fight wasn't enough?

Ready for round #2.

"The authorities had to pacify the man before they could administer first aid"

"the foreign man began relentlessly disturbing the men, causing them to become irritated and beat him as a result."

"Ms. Euaamporn emphasized that she had already told the foreigner to leave the men alone and go home, but he did not listen."

Seems like he was looking for a Fight, doesn't it.

Maybe, maybe, maybe.

But it is not a case of "maybe'' that this brit annoyed uncivilized cowards, using a level of violence that was totally uncalled for. No one in this group of selfish babies thought for a second that this fellow could be some day their own father, and that similarly no compassion would be part of the equation in dealing with him...

Another story of a DRUNK foreigner ( nationality immaterial ) behaving stupidly most drunks do, it would appear he dealt with the shop successfully, yet fragfile egos coupled with also possible drinking upset young men who got upset.

The Two on one scenario is to be expected here , however Foreigners should learn that their behaviour does have repercussions `and to behave accordingly, something many never learn.

This is not news he clearly deservered what he got is there another worth reporting on in Thailand other then some drunken ahole,,, if he did the same thing in England he would be in prison for drunk and disorderly and facing a Judge so who cares about him,,,,,, No one

Ahhh the beauty that transpires when British and Thai peasantry collide!

I suspect he kinda feels that way now looking through the bandages and tonguing the broken teeth.

If you are in a street fight, once you knock someone down you try and not let them get up.

This does'nt call for Thai bashing (easy as it is), this calls for drunken English fool bashing! Some people just get what they ask for! Drunk at 5.30 in the morning, yeah right! ????

Most people manage to avoid street fights.

I am not suggesting this fellow was anything less than a giant pain. That said, the level of beating put on him is out of proportion to the behavior.

IMHO they should have gone harder on him, teach the mouthy <deleted> a lesson he will never forget.

Do you get into many street fights ?

Racking my brain but I don't recall every getting in one myself.

According to another article I read the man  was extremely provocative. He was very drunk. He sat next to the Thai men and started being abusive. The shopkeeper asked him to leave. The man then made insulting comments about the girlfriend of one of the Thai men.

Thais like “us” just fine so long as we show respect and courtesy. Those two qualities go a long way
