The current price of Thai gold amazes me. I was married in outer Bangkok on May 19 2004 when the price of gold was 7,500 baht.

It used the proceeds of the necklace to repay.

My thought too.

Sold next morning.

Walking in the night with such precious stuff? No comment.

The suspect admitted to the theft and has paid the tourist back for the worth of the stolen necklace.

The only way to repay this victim was to use the proceeds from other victims.  No way this could have been 'her' first theft.

Possibly the ridiculous defamation law in Thailand which protects wrong doers.

Agreed, but you may remember the foreign guy who allegedly stole a pair of spectacles from a store a few days ago and the female owner put his picture on her social media, Instagram I think? Even if he did steal them could he claim defamation?

Or is it only for Thais?

What about all these people with their gold necklaces ?

Why do they wear it ? What is it good for ? Attract females ? Show that they have money ?

It attracts problems , that's all ... and shows the stupidity of the one who wears it .

The victim talks to Pattaya tourist police about the crime.

The incident took place on December 25th, 2023, at 3:50 A.M. near Wat Chai on South Pattaya Road. The victim, Mr. Yu Chao, 36, had been walking back to his hotel after a night out when approached by a transgender woman offering companionship, according to him.

Mr. Chao declined the offer of companionship but stated the suspect continued to hug and touch him before he walked away. Shortly after, Mr. Chao found that his gold necklace that he says was worth 300,000 baht had been taken.

Mr. Chao reported the incident to the Chinese Embassy who with the assistance of a translator contacted the Pattaya police station. Since Christmas Pattaya police and tourist police have investigated the incident, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Piyaphong Ensarn.
