Have you called the cops?

Featured Replies

You guys living in remote or small  villages away from cities ,have you ever had to call the cops ?

I was just watching a farang YouTuber living in a village in Isaan who was angry the cops took an hour to arrive for a altercation during the Songkran festival

He was "pissed" off that they took their time ,his words

But I'm sure anywhere in the World if you live in a country area away from the city the cops will be around a hour or more to arrive .

Do you have a local Cop in your village nearby ,how do you find police response times ?

It's obviously also a question of priorities. Did he tell the cops in a calm voice that some guys with weapons are in front of the temple? Or did he whine that someone splashed him with wate

  • Exactly the same amounts that I give to my wife .   I wonder why I don't get the same terrific response ??😇

Or did he whine that someone splashed him with water and life is so unfair?

Yes my wife does and they come.

We pay the 500 baht monthly fee for the red box, contribute to their social events, and I give them 3000 for Christmas. And honestly, with years of hindsight, the system works and is terrific value of money.

If you do not know the police, you do not call them unless its about health and life. Village boss dealing with daily problems, and the one we keep sponsored after she paid for our vote to be re elected.

The local police here is crooks, but always very nice at the district boarder stops when they once and awhile want to talk english with me.

Ours wouldn't have even bothered.

One villager had an item of gold stolen from her house and she saw who the thief was .

She called the local lazies and they wanted considerable monies off her before they would act.

We have called them once and they said they would send somebody tomorrow , so the wife rang the Changwat police and they informed our local lazies to get off their 'arrises and come help us.

They were not pleased .

Sounds like she broke up with you but you hadn't bothered to notice yet... can't blame her!

Ditto, i have something similar set up.

Pay them 1000 baht a month, they randomly come by and sign the book and have a news, i live remotely so i appreciate it.

Can also be handy for other things, recently had a big snake and he got the boys round to get rid of it.

yes i spoke with them....they told me to zip up my pants and move along......apologies to the village ladies waiting...

You like having boys play with that snake of yours?

2 minutes ago, Sticky Rice Balls said:

they were impressed but i was simply in the area looking for the lady i met on TF.....the cops asked to take a selfie(snakey)..i politely declined..

Are boys often impressed with your wee piddler?

The Police Box in my village closed down two years ago, closest is now 12 km away.

Never had need to call/talk in over 12 years.

1 hour ago, Sticky Rice Balls said:

no as they dont get access...the cops you called seemed impressed tho....some granny from TF wasn surely upset as the fuzz send me packing....you were the one who called about a "snake"

dont kill the messenger...

Are you on grinder?

What was the guy thinking? He thought that the police had a similar purpose to those in a western country.

I had trouble with my next-door neighbour, I have reasons to suspect at the start of the problem he went to the tessaban and dropped a few baht to take his side.

Then the issue continued and he threatened me (he’s a bit of a nasty guy, he’s a loan shark, he’s already in league with the headman offering his financial assistance) we went to the police, not to report him but to just say, look if you have a problem, speak with my solicitor because we don’t want to deal with you / the issue.

The police offered to sort the problem, up to me how much I could / would donate. It always crossed my mind that the police are just “guns for hire” once you start down the path of offering money to do their job then someone can just offers more cash than me and then you are the target.

Similar happened to me after an unprovoked on us at night driving on our way home on a M/C, dark road,  main beam on, they just jumped out from the trees, we managed to drive of, called the tourist police line busy was all we got, phoned the local police came out the next mourning, to the spot, where they had abandoned their weapons, nothing was done, then phoned the main police station, after 3 days of not hearing from them. Next mourning they were caught.

few things here

well you are talking about a youtuber... its their job.. to create a scene.. event.. content.. thats the first red flag for me. thats what i really hate about. tiktokers and youtubers.

i was living in khon kaen are. my home was 45 km from khon kaen. it was 14 years ago and i swear that time there were no farangs in khon kaen at all. maybe 50 and thats all.

1 day i had to call the cops i will not give the reason why i called them.. they were on the scene in 30min which is seriously better then in many european cities.

1 day i had to call ambulance. same location. they where on the scene in 10min

1 day i had to call to police because of loud music in my muuban in bangkok.. and they were on the scene in 35 min.

so far my experience with police is good.

so just under 300 a month...10 baht a day...do they put a guy outside your house in the tiny police box?

Where we bought property in rural Ratchaburi it costs 1,000/month for the red box.  In our case it is divided among the 10 people that own property on the soi.  So 100/month.  The police drive out only 2-3 times per week.  But otherwise they would never be there.

We had a house burglary once 2 or 3 years ago (no cameras - since installed). Police were pleasant and helpful, particularly after my b/f made a donation to the social club. They had a fair idea who it was - doing the rounds, yet again - and they turned up with him at our house 3 or 4 days later for a reenactment. Salutes all round at the end, and the English-speaking one gave me his phone no. to call if any problems in future.

Can't complain.

Oh KAREN...are you aware in London it took the police 13 hours to respond.. you don't know how fortunate you are...

When you call the cops here in Hua Hin, you first have to give your full name, spell it of course, as well as your address unless you speak Thai. When you have given all the information, after 10 to 15 minutes, you can get to the reason for your call... have fun:post-4641-1156694572:

He's lucky they even showed up.

From experience and reports from Thai friends, if it's a small matter and there is no option to make any money 99% of the time they dont show up.

We had an issue with a drunk neighbor banging on our door all night so my wife called 3 different police offices and nobody showed up.

Crikey, why do you need a police red box?

Do the cops visit you once a day?

I thought those police red boxes were for dangerous, problem areas.

Haven’t called them but Pau Ma ( the father of the dogs ) neighbor  has called them on me for playing music to drown out his dogs obsessive barking!

He called the village  head and she called the cops . It was about 7:30 pm. It was all coordinated. My wife explained to them , at times we put the music on to drown out the 7 small dogs 24/7 barking( never play during quiet times 10am-10pm).Its been going on , our little feud for 3 years back and forth with the amphor officials mediating all the complaints.

The dog neighbor must control his dogs was the written order. I dont have much faith in the decision. We’ll give it 6 months time while recording the barking every chance I get and if necessary bring him to court.

I think your doing it wrong though

It hasn't been working

I feel your frustration about the barking dog though

,I used to live next door to one many years ago before moving to the city

I never can work out why the owners cannot hear their dog barking ???

That got me puzzled ,I had to go ask the bloke next door

"Mate you can't hear your dog barking constantly?

He had a puzzled look 😮

Nooooo ? He said

"You must be F deaf ! I said back

You can always play "Who let the dogs out ...woof ...woof...over & over again

Who let the dogs out ...woof...woof..
