I also see weather drama merchants on here, almost every day.

Thank you for not using the term: ad nauseam

As in:  I also see weather drama merchants on here, ad nauseam.

Seems that some on this Chiang Mai Forum believe that the Chiang Mai Weather I remarked upon in this Topic also applies to...

PRANBURI District.

This Topic is NOT commenting on Pranburi District, on Pattaya, or on the weather and air temperatures experienced in RANONG.

Weather is LOCAL, friends.

Just like Politics.

I thought that this guy, and others, would have known about this, and that there was no reason for me to add this WARNING to my Original Post, but...

Apparently, this is not the case.

Please feel free to contact TMD for more authoritative information.

What is TMD?

The rain is now coming down, maybe not in buckets, but this downpour is what can easily be considered...

REAL RAIN.

Everyone here in Chiang Mai is just so very happy to see REAL RAIN again.

I think we are about to, finally, break this Dry Spell which has been plaguing CM inhabitants, for so very many sweltering weeks.

Yes!

A new morn, and new dawn, is FINALLY breaking.....!

REJOICE!

REJOICE!

REJOICE!

Rain coming DOWN.

Humidity going UP.

Posted

Sorry.

Rain stopped after five minutes.

Still having a heatwave here....

Even HOTTER after the short rain, in fact.

Humidity through the ROOF.

Can it get any hotter?

IDK....

You have to ask ..

... fresh air

... blue, clear or overcast skies, anything better than polluted haze

... everything green again, instead of dusty & crunchy

... lakes & ponds have water

... maybe some good boomers & a lightshow :coffee1:

Always one to spoil the mood, I guess.

Never fails.

Anyway, whatever greases your squeaky wheel, I guess,...

And, all comments are welcome, weird or not.

Fanny Adams here in Petchabun but a few clouds about.

To water the garden or not , that is the question. If I water it....rain will follow. If I don't .....nothing. Not a sausage let alone rain.

One thing I hate about the first heavy rain of the season is the hordes of Meng Mows that spring out of the ground in there millions and fly to the nearest light. They then shed there wings and indulge in promiscous sex all over the place , pulling trains on the window sills and any flat service.  The following morning there are drifts of these critters all over the balcony and I have to get the garden blower out to give them their last <deleted> .When they come calling you have to close all windows and doors and pull the curtains or they get in to watch television with you and sup your beer.

FYI:  I really worry about those that do not have access to AC, in their homes, and do not have the opportunity to "COOL DOWN AT NIGHT".

The higher temperatures this Hot Season put a lot of stress on those who do not have access to places where they are able to cool down.

Right now, one might guess, that we are on the very edge.  And, if it becomes much hotter next year, or in the coming five years, then quality of life will continue to deteriorate.

And, it is not just quality of life, but also the very survival of those who are more at risk, and those who are older/younger, or less physically fit.

The global mean temperatures will continue to rise.

And also, there will be anomalies in local areas which push temps far higher than the mean.

Even people who are acclimated to hot weather in Thailand may not be able to easily adapt to the coming rise in temperature, and the higher frequency of heatwaves lasting over two weeks.

I really would not know how to discuss this reality with my children....and...

Hence, decades ago, I decided that it would be unconscionable to bring a child into the world which is now staring us in the face.

What a NITWIT was Paul Ehrlich!

He and his wifey KNEW the impending risks, yet....

The wifey convinced Paul to have, ....

Just one girl.

Not sure how she is now doing, ...in this heat...

In 2024....

Humans are NOT LOGICAL, I believe...

But, then...

They sent me away....

Here to Thailand.

BLAST IT!

Given your attitude at your post

I would not blame them!

Why do you stay here?

Why do you stay here?

The very reason that I stay in Thailand is for many reasons:

a. Thailand is probably the very best country and culture that I have ever visited, including those in North America, Central America, Europe, etc.

b. I love the local Thai friends I meet here in Thailand.

c.  The Thai people I meet have a very nice sense of humor which I enjoy.

d.  I like the mangos and the papayas that grow almost anywhere and everywhere.

e.  I am old now.  And, I have lived in some REALLY UPSCALE Neighborhoods, but money is not everything.  And, I can tell you honestly that, without doubt, Thailand is the only place for me.  I will die here.  And, I will be very thankful, on my deathbed, to look up at the ceiling and gasp My last gasp, thinking....

What was I thinking!

HONESTLY:  I know that I am lucky to be in Thailand. (I came to Thailand not of my own choosing particularly.  My arrival here was in no way planned.  I arrived here to recover from a health issue.  And then, after recovery, I realized that I would be a fool to leave.)

The master of the English language!

You either have a "The very reason" or you have "many reasons"!

I seem to remember you saying on numerous occasions on AN that you were leaving Thailand to go to ...................(insert country) because Thailand was .....................(insert reason) or country ................ was (insert reason)!

Eureka!

I was in Chaweng (Koh Samui) this morning and as I left the shop, after buying a few tins of a new IPA there, it started to rain.

Only a light shower, but the first rain that I have seen all year. Also a smattering of light thunder in the distance.

Sadly, the shower was over by the time that I got to my motorbike. (A one minute walk.)

Half a kilometre on and the roads were still dry.

Just to make you green,  it's currently raining here in Korat.  Temp dropped to 29 and a thunderstorm passing overhead.

It's damn near liveable again!
