There have always been lists/maps about crime hotspots in Bangkok.

Nice one from 2022 found at Bangkok Post. Not allowed to link here.

Google for "bangkok crime map" and you should see it.

Worst "Bang" is Bang Rak.

There were list from police with roads prone to drug dealing, petty crime...

Not true. Lived and worked there - most quite and peaceful area.

#FAKENEWS

It is an old area of Bangkok that is nice and safe with parts running along the river, but I would not call it "quiet" and peaceful.

This is the entrance to one of the slum areas in Bangkok.

In the unlikely event that anybody would walk into that entrance area it is pretty obvious that you should stay out - even if there is no sign.

I bring my gf from time to time to that entrance on my bike. She visits an old woman there and brings her sometimes food and medication.

I guess by now they know her and "know" me. A short visit at daytime is no problem.

But I wouldn't go in there alone at night.

Would bad things happen? I don't know. But it looks sinister enough to forget about any adventures.

Calling members of the Thai parliament scoundrels, liars and thieves sounds like a recipe for a jail term !

I have no idea why this Thai liar who was a front desk clerk  was telling me BS

He said he had "bandits" demanding 20b at night some where in the suburbs of Bangkok and wasn't a safe area

Some places may be not safe for locals because of teen gangs, they won't touch a foreigner, but can extort money from Thais.

On personal experience: Klong Toey, Huay Kwang around market area, used to be Pratunam.

Indeed Samut Prakan and Bang Kapi slums.

those are "no go zones" at night. During day Bangkok is very safe

Would you get strong arm robbed or attacked? I have never felt unsafe in Thailand except two or three times I was menaced by  farangs

In US some places unless you come to a spot buy drugs and quickly leave you would be lucky to get out  of there in your underwear.  Meaning the locals take your clothes and shoes even if they like them.

Parts of Newark NJ comes to mind.

Nope. Just scary groups of drunk and agitated men shouting and calling thai insults + few english slurs.

I was lucky to distance myself.

From 11 PM many places of BKK don't look safe. I haven't seen police patrols after dark. Ever.

I will try to contact this Thai guy and ask him EXACTLY where this place is  that has *bandits" after 9pm demanding 20 baht for him to go through!!

I'm fascinated by this place that this hotel clerk has to be home by 9pm because of "bandits"

And we will ALL meet there and go there for the next ASEAN members party 🎉

Anyone know the bad areas ?

Any areas with foreigners.

You are safe amongst the Thai's, peaceful, friendly people.

Sure you get the occasional bad Thai but from my experience, many years of living here in Thailand, it's the foreigners you got to avoid.

Yeah and i'm sure you hang around areas with foreigners also. You have no idea my guy. You're naive and wet behind the ears.

A more real post although I wouldn't class any of those areas as 'no go zones' but at least you recognize areas that are actually worth mentioning towards requiring caution, I would also add a few area of Phaya Thai at night. Areas with tourists or foreigners are not worth mentioning, like a lot of newbie clowns in this comment section are trying to say. You really know nothing or are just deceitful.

Without becoming boring I just want people to know where you are. Thailand usually has a higher murder rate than nearly every European country every year. I really like Thailand, have done for 20 years, but it's not Switzerland or Japan. Exercise caution and no, your biggest threat is not foreigners, but Thais, unless you roll out of bed into a foreigner promoted bar everyday and that's your (sad) life. That's the reality.

Omg, you are one of them.

Your hostile, antagonizing comment shows me that you are one of the nasty, horrible foreigners that live here.

I wouldn't say there are NO unsafe areas

I have emailed the hotel clerk to find out exactly which area he lives in which has his so called '"bandits" demanding cash in his slum area at night that he can't go out after 9pm his words
