On August 17, Thaksin Shinawatra, was officially released from his prison term, which he is currently on parole from, after being granted a royal pardon. His name was included among the 50,000 prisoners who received clemency as part of a royal decree issued in celebration of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024.

The Royal Gazette published the announcement of the royal decree, which was countersigned by Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai. The decree grants clemency to approximately 200,000 prisoners across Thailand, with 50,000 being released immediately. Among those granted release are around 7,500 individuals who were already on probation.

Thaksin and others in this group of probationers have been freed without having to serve out their remaining sentences. Originally scheduled for release on August 31, Thaksin's immediate freedom was made possible under Section 6 of the Royal Decree on Clemency, 2024, which provides for the release of individuals in certain categories, including those under probation and those who have been substituting community service for fines.

They are still convicted criminals, now pardoned convicted criminals.

So, I guess his daughter still can't hire the criminal, otherwise she will follow Srettha.

The decree will apply to a total of about 200,000 people. My guess is that Thailand will now be awash with criminals running freely throughout the country. Still doesn't even compare to the massive numbers of criminals and assorted mental defectives running wild in western countries courtesy of open borders.

The mental defectives are the ones that let them in and continue to do so.

The masterplan is flawless.

Stay tuned.

And what relevance and meaning does the two posts above have? His daughter has become the Prime Minister of Thailand, and he totally control the party she is affiliated with. He already holds the best position.

lol He’s doing well this year. He should buy a lottery ticket.

He is a billionaire. He does not need a job.

The maneuvering continues.

Put it all together.

Age. China. Tourism collapse. Casinos. USA. Tourism redefinition. Succession.

you need to read the news  he has been wrangling for a position with the government

How many feet does this beast of a situation have? Because I've heard at least three major shoes drop, and surely not the last.

In the name of the Father, yes, this is what it's all about.

And let's not forget, Thaksin won a few democratic elections, earlier on in history. His sister, Yingluck, won a democratic election too.  A coup by Thailand's military and Yellow Shirts ousted Thaksin.

And today, Thaksin is back in power.

I think Thaksin is heading for a fall.

I suspect a deal was reached with someone I can't name, he agreed to come back, have no involvement with politics and spend time with his family.

It's pretty clear that's not what he's doing.

Machinations at this level, move slowly with careful planning.  You do not stick 2 fingers up to someone at this level without being check-mated down the line.

I think you're off-base. Those two have been close for a long time. Thaksin had trouble with the previous one. Perm did all the dirty work. After many decades the puppet master of all puppet masters finally expired.

This was a done deal, agreed to before he returned from exile. He agreed to sell his party, his supporters, and his soul to the army, in exchange for no jail time. They likely also agreed to install his daughter, after a one year side show. It was all planned.

This is all about moving Thailand backwards, and making sure no change, progress, or reform takes place, and thwarting the will of the good people of Thailand.

Woe is Thailand. The Jurassic era continues.

Agreed.

But one key position (which cannot be named) has changed.

The Thai people have also changed over the past decade or so, and the Thai economy is going south.

Although the military leaders may support the status quo, many of the rank and file do not.

Many many Red Shirts are angry at Taksin and the Pheu Thai leaderships' getting into bed with the military who killed so many of their supporters, family members and friends..

Interesting times ahead.

Are you combining ALL western countries together, to justify your very biased comment... anyway, this is about our belovered Thailand, can you please keep it relative.

It is relative - he made a comparison.

I fail to understand why you needed to make your comment... those comments are still 100% correct.

Incorrect.

He could not have manipulated and manoeuvred as brilliantly as he has without a prior script agreed by all players.,

He is far to clever to return to Thailand without a plan, and he has executed it to perfection.

...now, if he's only recant this money from overseas tax ruling...

I agree , the prime minister of Thailand is little more than a fiqurehead and has little to no real power or influence.
