Suspect in Police's killing granted bail by Hua Hin court

The accused in a fatal shooting of a sergeant in a local pub has been given bail by a Hua Hin court. The head of the Hua Hin Police Station's Police Affairs Monitoring Committee confirmed that the suspect has been suspended to ensure a fair investigation and comfort the victim's family.

The accused is 34-year-old Jagkrit, an advisor to the Hua Hin Police Affairs Monitoring Committee in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. He is accused of shooting and killing 31-year-old Sergeant Rochnaporn, also known as Sergeant Punch, a soldier from the Thanarat Camp in Pranburi.

The incident happened after a fight at a pub in the Hua Hin 80 area within the Hua Hin municipality. The fight, which happened late at night on August 18, also resulted in three people being injured from stray bullets. Sergeant Punch's family has declared they won't cremate his body until justice is served.

On August 19, it was reported that the Hua Hin Provincial Court has approved Jagkrit's bail, with a bond set at 500,000 baht. Worapot Limakom, the head of the Police Affairs Monitoring Committee, revealed that an investigative panel was quickly formed to look into the incident after it happened.

After finding evidence of Jagkrit's guilt, the committee decided to remove him from his advisory role. This was done to ensure a thorough police investigation and to show Sergeant Punch's family that Jagkrit would not be given any special treatment.

As for the appointment of advisors, Worapot emphasized that a thorough background check is standard procedure. Anyone can become an advisor as long as they have a clean criminal record and no tainted past.

Worapot said, “We have done everything necessary for a fair and transparent investigation. Our committee does not tolerate misconduct, and we want the public and the victim's family to know this.”

Meanwhile, the pub where the shooting happened, which lacked proper licensing, has been ordered to close for five years. The police are also taking legal action against the owner for running an illegal venue.

So the victims family now know that the killer is out on the loose?

What comfort does that bring?

Kinda flies in the face of giving someone bail

Absolutely laughable but TIT, just another example of their stupidity.

So he handed himself in to the police after the shooting along with the gun he used, and as stated "After finding evidence of Jagkrit's guilt, the committee decided to remove him from his advisory role". Yet they let him out on bail?????

Jagkrit won't need to do a runner....he's as good as free now....just a simple matter of court approval....and that won't take long.

Of course, we'll never hear any more of this case....!

one has to ask how  court coulld release on bail  someone charged with murdering another person let alone a police officer, must be either very rich, have the right family name or be close friends with the right people, anyone else would be remanded for the trial. As seen often in Thailand certain people are afforded court help in escaping charges  and the country or found guilty when innocent on trumped up charges, once again it shows thai courts/law make it the worlds laughing stock as it appears to be based entirely on money, name and associates to get to decisions

Bail, after killing a man? And who is the 'Influential' person who owned the alleged illegal pub?

Bail for a killer?

Reminds me of the answer to the Constitutional Court outcry. "Don't worry. We do things differently here!"

The organization that found "evidence of Jagkrit's guilt" was just the police advisory committee on which he served. The bail decision was made by the court, which is a completely different entity.

But yes, releasing a murderer on bail is bizarre.

Did he promise faithfully not to shoot anyone else or the judge in this lunatic decision 🤔

I suspect that he is out on bail so that he can negotiate the compensation, which is the norm here.

If he does not offer enough money, then we may possibly hear about this case again. When the family report it to the social media folk.

And wounding 2 others. Reckless weapons use in shooting up the bar.

Gone already.

Well, for us that have spent a lot of time, in Thailand, we remember to 2 cops, from up northern, found guilty of murder, sentenced to death, and yes, let out on bail... Never seen again.

The habit of letting murderers out on bail contradicts all normal logic for justice. Especially since in this case the murderer has even confessed. On what grounds is such a killer, whose crime is beyond question, being granted freedom again?

In rather poor/bad taste, which I am sure his family and colleagues at Fort Thanarat would not appreciate.

"Punch" is a male/female nickname, like "Lek", but not as common, which he had since childhood.  A reasonable successful young female singer of 10-15 years ago also had the nickname "Punch".

Agreed, as I posted on another thread, many deep wais and a substantial amount of compensation.

However, if that is enough to satisfy his "brothers" at Fort Thanarat (who, from some very emotional Facebook posts, are rather "angry") is another question.

Not in Thailand. Tentacles reach all agencies as seen in political persecution and vendetta's up and down the country.

Not uncommon here. Especially with 'pillars of society' and slebs.
