90 day requirements at Immigration

Do they do the 90 day report all in one visit or must we drop off the passport and paperwork and return later to pick it up?

You usually have to wait 30 minutes -- but be sure to hand in by 11am otherwise you could be sat waiting until the 12-1 lunch break finishes

I did it 3 weeks ago and there's a sign up where they issue the queue numbers saying that the process takes one hour. The lady said the same to me when she handed me the ticket, come back in one hour. The place was really busy so I went for a drive and had a bite to eat in Burger King, then went back just a bit over an hour later. The wretched place was even more packed now, as not only had a continuous stream of TM47 and TM30 customers arrived, but all the people who had been told to come back in an hour had returned. A woman shouts out ticket numbers randomly and it was another 25 minutes before my number was announced. All in all, from the time I arrived at Immigration until I got my passport back it was almost exactly 2 hours. A huge waste of time for something that's so utterly pointless.

Oh, and don't forget that a copy of your TM30 slip is listed as a requirement on their 'what to bring' sign. Why? They don't even ask for that when you do the annual visa extension, which is surely a lot more important than the stupid 90-day report. There are times I almost hope that they start playing hardball over taxes so they can drive me out of the country and I'll never have to put up with this particular aspect of Thai bureaucratic idiocy again!

Your original TM30 slip is stapled inside your passport.

She should hand out cards for the MPs in the next street...... kills a nice hour or so.

Use an agent 100 Baht, just give them your passport and pick it up the following day, I did it last week, saves all the hassle of going down there.

An agent 100 Baht?  Who?

You do a 90 day if you are with 15 days of your expiration date, otherwise you don't.
My 90 day hasn't coincided with my extension renewal for years.  And BTW, I've never dropped off my passport to do a 90 day.  Even back in the day when I reported to Chiang Mai immigration in the overly crowded sh**-hole before the renovation, the longest it took me to get a 90 day stamp was an hour, but usually between 5 to 20 minutes.  Unlike last year, online seems to work for me now.  And I no longer deal with Chiang Mai immigration even though I'm in that Immigration district. Thank God.

Different Immigration offices have different procedures.

For example, Jomtien doesn't synch-up your 90 Day report dates with your Extension application date. They treat them as two entirely separate procedures.

At Jomtien:
You need to drop off your:
Passport,
TM.47,
Photocopy of Face Page,
Photocopy of Visa/Extension page,
Photocopy of Last Entry Stamp page, and
Photocopy of your "Receipt of Address" notification slip.

Pro tip ! TAKE a pen with you !! Save yourself time and effort as it can be hard finding one when you are there.

Depending on when you go in, it can take 20 minutes or it can take an hour.

They collect a dozen or so passports and take them inside.

The next time they have a dozen or so more passports ready to go, they'll take those inside and pick up the batch they'd previously dropped off.

They then call out the numbers in no particular order and regardless if you were the first person in line or the last.

I have no idea why they decided to require a TM.47 and stack of photocopies each time now.
When the 90 Day was inside the main building it was quick and easy. Even when the "90 day desk" was outside and we sat under the awnings.

But ever since they moved into that new building, they've decided to make the process more complicated for some reason.

They must have boxes of photocopies just from the trips I've made there in the last couple of years since they started using the new building.

Major waste of time - and paper - doing that every single time.
