I live under my means. Yes easily under 40K but I own a condo. If I had to pay rent for the same condo my spending would be over 40K  but not by much. I don't keep any kind of budget as for me it's to

Do you guys go out to Sports Bars or have meals at farang cafes ?

As mentioned, I'm neither of pensionable age, based in Pattaya, or living on 40k per month.

For a 70 year old with all assets paid off with a nice home to be in, 5k on the weekends and 1k per day on weekdays, Sports Bar or meals at farang cafes, whatever they are, should be okay a few times per week. Do 70 year olds usually like going to Sports Bars?

You're claiming that numerous immigration officers are systematically breaking the law en masse. Now you're just being silly, as well as being angry. 🙂

And what imm office are you getting a marriage or retirement visa and or ext, without verifying your income ?

You're not, you are using an agent, 1900 for the visa or ext of, and the rest to the agent and Imm office to skirt the rules, and probably illegal.   They have the discretion to approve, without financial info, but that would only cost 1900 baht, if done legally.

Not me, I'm more a Moo ping with sticky rice for 30bht, then sit at my local Thai outdoor cafe eating it and drinking a latte 40bht.

Retirement visas/extensions are available for 25k first year 15k extensions after the first year ZERO funds needed. 🙂

You're not, you are using an agent

Of course making a payment to an agent to obtain a requirements waiver to get a retirement extension is illegal.

If it were legal, you wouldn't need an agent.

10,000 pounds around $20,000 AUD , I guess it can be done ,no drinking or Wine Women and Song though

I wonder where that saying came from?

WINE WOMEN & SONG

I like my wine, can't be bothered with the fake nightlife scene and I effing hate karaoke. Works for me

I think you are looking at the cost equation too much from a 2 week tourist mindset. How much do you drink a week in Australia ?

About the question of the legality of paying agents to avoid meeting financial requirements for immigration matters, after many years I have come to the conclusion that though it may subjectively be viewed as unethical or corrupt by many. it is indeed QUASI-legal. which basically translates to legal. Personally, I'm not comfortable going that route, but I'm not in a position to judge those that do.

Agents are making money. So jobs are being created. So it's ok. That's how I think it's perceived and that's how I perceive it.

Not going to link it but I came to my conclusion based on one opinion from a lawyer and also the fact that neither agents or customers have been charged with a crime just for doing the thing that so many are happy to pay for. Agents have been charged for things like using fake stamps which obviously is a crime. But if the "process" gets the customer a real stamp, then there it is. Of course there can be inconveniences and surprising negative consequences if using these services but being charged with a crime just for using an agent isn't one of them.

This is one of those "you're not in Kansas anymore" type things. Living here requires an adjustment of perspective.

I've been here long enough to remember when extensions were easy, and Imm was flexible, especially once they knew you.

Married, OK, that's your wife, have cert, let me see bank book copies, ok, done.

Imm officer busted for approving marriage ext, when not married.  Now we same as above, and, copy of blue book, yellow book, or lease ... ok done

Imm officer busted again.  Now we need, all the above, and we'll be out to the house, and oh yea, need bank statement now.

Imm officer busted again.  Now need all the above and, photos of you in house, in driveway, and the address # on wall.  Go to district office and get cert, that still married.

Imm officer busted again.  Now need all the above and bank balance statement, whole account statement, and credit advise to track from overseas.  The paperwork has to be perfect, sorry, we can't be flexible, because now we send it all the BKK, and they approve it.  Come back in 30 days.

Thank you very much scammers.  Tightened the screws every time you are caught out.

Then maybe ask them your OP question about possibly living on 40k per month at that age whilst they're going from the club to the afterparty at 4am.

No, you don't

So around 3,000 baht or so a month here, hardly likely to dent a 40,000 a month budget. Personally I budget double than and can go out and socialise with my friends in a regular pub/sports bar every  2 or 3 days. Any heavier and it would likely adversely affect my health and I'd probably enjoy it less anyway

many are quoting the Aussie pension per month, it a fortnight, but paid in 2 fortnights 28 days. I don't know if they can collect every fortnight. but I think not.

You can live on 40k a month and have sex with yourself every day. Ask me

I thought you had to wait 6 months until you were eligible for treatment upon returning to the UK.

Nope, not if you state that you have returned to live permanently in the UK.  (Whether you lie when making that statement is up to you...)

You spend lots of cash on breakfast?

Thanks, hopefully I'll never have to test that scenario out.

No 'if".   You should be saving whether you are moving to Pattaya, to somewhere else, or not moving at all.
