You're quite right, but isn't it the case that one lot are part of the police force, and the other lot aren't?

There is a TDAC database.

The immigration officials at the entry points have access to this database.

The immigration officials at the provincial immigration offices don't seem to have access to this database.

The immigration officials in both places are part of the Immigration Bureau, which is part of the Royal Thai Police, which is part of the Ministry of the Interior.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

  • Seeing that you have a re-entry permit, you have a temporary permission to stay in Thailand and therefore Thailand is, for immigration purposes, not your country of residence.   In your case

  • Will Iam Not
    Will Iam Not

What are you on about. Country of Residence is where you live, in my case Thailand. Earlier in the application you already put your Nationality and Passport number.

Thanks 👍

I somehow got it into my head that Immigration were separate from RTP in some way. Your clarification makes it even stranger that they don't all have access to the same database. Perhaps in time......

Hi all ! I am on a retirement Visa and planning to cross the border into Laos to do a road trip and return back to Thailand  :- My question  is .. "I have a valid Visa and a re entry stamp in my passport ... will I still have to do the  digital arrive procedure before re entry or will the re entry stamp suffice  ?"

The TDAC has to completed for every arrival.

You don't have a visa, you have an extension of stay protected by the reentry permit. TDAC is nothing to do with visas, or extensions, it is an entry record - just like the old TM6. Everyone entering Thailand has to complete a TDAC.

You still have to fill in the Digital arrival form online

Yes.

Yes....I should have been clearer. Not for Thais (which the OP obviously isn't).

Right, it made me do a double take though as I'm flying back into Thailand with my Mrs who is Thai in about a week

When i arrived last week, the IO asked me if i had completed the TDAC.

Correct answer: "Yes sir, I did it myself"

I had completed it. If it shows on the screen as many have claimed, why ask?

Probably just being friendly.

Engaging in conversation to check you out.  If you show nerves or anxiety he might probe further.  It's a common procedure almost anywhere you deal with such officialdom.

Did the immigration official ask you before or after he scanned your passport?

I came 5 days ago from Vietnam with a ReEntry and I entered the ReEntry number in my DTAC registration. The confirm via email comes 5 seconds after. No printing or showing my phone was necessary.

Leave blank

Just back from a trip abroad. I filled in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card 72 hours before travelling back to Thailand and got an immediate email back from the Thai immigration "Dear Visitor, Thank you for your submission to the Thailand Digital Arrival Card".

Was the process at arrival at the airport faster than normal?

No, it was the same. Nobody showed any interest in the QR saved in my phone, only passport and fingerprints as usual.

I understand they only ask for your QR if their immigration system cannot link your pp with a completed online TDAC. In 99% cases its like you experienced.

Arrived at Swampy yesterday morning, TDAC had been completed correctly in advance.  Gave I/O passport and copy of TDAC as received back from Immigration. No line at my kiosk, so I expected quick entry, but I/O took about 5 times longer messing with his computer before returning Passport with correct entry stamp. Most certainly did not speed up entry, so what is the point?  Also noticed lines at each compute terminal where you could do you TDAC on arrival.  When I checked in at LHR, airline checked that I had a Thai visa, but no mention of TDAC.  I am far from convinced that this is 'more efficient' and going to make entry to LOS a better experience.  Also much trouble getting the finger-print scanner to work.  Dare I say, "Typically Thai"

How do you know your delay was attributable to the TDAC? When literally every other reports says no difference.

And he took five times longer than what "fiddling with his computer"? Maybe he was checking your visa.

It's just a thought (!) but quite a few people have asked "what about this bit of the form" or similar.

I would suggest that when completing a TDAC web page, if you're not sure about an answer AND it lets you move on to complete the application  by leaving it blank, AND acknowledges with a QR code, then assume its done. It's not as if it costs anything after all.

Hi all just filling out the TDAC online, quick question, is the visa number (required in the personal info section) the original number from the non o visa or the number on the latest extension of stay TIA

Yes, if you have a visa, if not leave it blank as it is not required.

With the old TM6 paper form it used to be that your re-entry permit number was entered there (your visa has long expired), and it's been mentioned that is being done with no subsequent issues.

I just see that big lighted sign above their head directing us all to submit our TDAC, Passport and Boarding Pass and I comply.    Just like I don't pull out my camera or snap selfies or take calls, because the signs tell me not to.  I figure, why push my luck?
