Misleading chevrons on Jomtien 2nd road.

Featured Replies

Am I going nuts, or what???

I just travelled along Jomtien 2nd road from Rompho to Soi Wat Bun Kanchana.

I don't know how long they've been in situ but, today was the first time that I noticed them.

About halfway down, near Copacabana condos, the road bends to the LEFT. Sited in the meridian strip there are four chevrons pointing to the RIGHT!

Surely this is incorrect.

No, but the chevrons are clearly visible on Google maps.

Well then they must have been there for some time  and as such  I can't say I've noticed any misleading chevrons..

What is a bit annoying on that road are the potholes and the  flashing night time cat eyes  they pulsate in a hypnotic way  and for me are very distracting.

Well post a screen shot, then those familiar with the area can make a judgment call.

The above do point in the wrong direction ,

but at least indicate a bend in the road 😋  they have to keep you on your toes.

Fitting instructions in English only 😂

Probably installed by the Copacabana to say, "lookie here".

It's a subliminal thing.

Dang! And some vandal's gone and painted 'Jomtien Second Rd' on the asphalt, too. What is this town coming too, lol?

If you look at the black stripes on the chevron then yes they indicate a left turn in the road.

How on earth do you arrive at that conclusion?

I wonder which way they point on the other side.

And anyway, that isn't even a bend, it's a kink and unworthy of any indicative signs, be they correct or incorrect.

There's a plethora of unnecessary road signage in Pattaya/Jomtien. Thousands of Crosswalk signs where there are no crosswalks, directional chevrons where there is no bend, rumble strips and red paint on every other intersection, landing strip lights everywhere.

It's almost as if somebody's family has the franchise to install pointless signage. :coffee1:

They are blank on the other side.

Maybe they have not reached their quota for road deaths.

So it now begs the question - are the signs upside-down, or back to front. Life can be confusing in Pattaya. :coffee1:

The chevrons point toward the median to warn of danger, not to guide the road’s direction.

Crikey, these chevrons placed a bit further down the road have been installed incorrectly

Ha, ha, I'm joking 😂

That happens if you give the job to some Burmese slave laborers and don't check

Reminds of some jokes about "construction plan held upside down".

Hard to believe what nonsense some posted here.

Please warn people when you are on the road!

The f....g arrows point to the direction of the curve!

And the earth is a globe and circles the sun.

Follow the black stripe up from the bottom, it then points left !

Chevrons are usually white V shaped painted on the road. Give us a clue please.

Ah, you mean these ones, unseen on the photo.

On the Google Maps photo I have just posted, I can see THREE triangles painted on the road, which look as if they are facing straight ahead. Any better photo please, to substantiate your claim.

Or are these what you mean, the white ones being from Google Earth.

So sorry, I was looking on the road, not on poles. Apologies. And yes, they are very confusing and pointing the wrong way. Cheers.

Chevrons painted on the road surface are to show how far back from the car in front you SHOULD stay. Immaterial here, like speed limits etc.

< = left, > = right

There is another example of  this near Rayong. And their reasoning for a arrow pointing right for a left hand curve is ass backwards to our thinking.

Yes the road curves left but the arrows point right because they want cars to keep over in their lanes and not cut the corner/curve.

So there you have it.🚗
