Next morning , one drunk to the other in adjacent hospital beds,

" I told you we should have gone to Pattaya "

This was well deserved... But let's face it Thai's will look for the smallest excuse to give a foreigner a good hiding... We're generally not liked and only tolerated...

No need for that! Can´t it be enough with that they slapped a Thai woman. Why the heck would they do that? I know very well that Thai males stands for a huge part of domestic violence, but regular Thai people dislike them as well.

What do you mean more to the story? Did the Thai woman say something that offended them, and the only thing the silly morons could do was slap her?

LOL.  The panic!

"Don't try to rob me of this chance to satisfy my fetishistic desire to see other foreigners being attacked by Thais!"

Thailand has a high number of sadistic psychopaths.  Why is a good question. Probably due to abusive upbringing in a hierarchical culture.

3 hours ago, Olav Seglem said:

Why didnt they just take them outside and prevent from reentering ??

The thais had to use the opportunity to "kick daylight" out of them as well.

Scary....

Why did the Thais jump on them at the first opportunity and deliver a savage beat-down, far worse than whatever they were reported to have done?

I think the answer is in the question.  They clearly already wanted to give tourists a savage beating, and took the opportunity immediately that it was presented to them.

And whats just as scary is all the approving comment from people on the web.

Equally, there are a lot of foreigners who also salivate at the thought of other forgivers being beaten and injured by Thai people.  It makes them feel superior/less inferior.

beat the farang!!!! beat the farang!!!! bad farang!!!! keep kicking him, punching, 100 on 1, yes, yes, yes!!!!!! knock him out, more, more, more!!!!

and we wonder why we hate each other.    if i walk on the street, never look me in the eyes!! lol.

Dickie ol' boy, our paths cross once again.

Regarding women, there is an unwritten law of the jungle where men are never supposed to lay a hand on a woman. Even if she started it, deserves a slap, is pushing your buttons. Always walk away from women if you find yourself getting angry. She is allowed to slap you, but not the other way around.

I’m in full agreement - though I do find myself questioning the absence of any backstory that might explain such a reaction.

In the context of this incident, we’re shown a video of a foreigner being brutally assaulted, with the only justification offered being that he 'slapped a woman in a bar'. But is that even true? - can we take the initial social media post that led to this story as being factually correct when we are already aware there is so much false information out there?.

Regarding looking for an excuse to attack ... maybe. I went into a bar once and saw a sign saying "No fighting. Fine of 200,000 Baht" or something like that. My impression is they're desperate to avoid fights in these bars based on a sign like that. And that there must be a lot of fights or near fights that break out -- initiated by tourists, not thais -- for the fine to be that high.

I also agree - no one wants a flight....  but it does seem that 'given half a chance' there's a certain demographic of Thai's who work in such areas who are extremely quick to respond and go from zero to a degree of extreme and brutal physicality that could easily lead to a death (and has done on numerous occasions) in seconds, almost as if they are 'just waiting for the excuse'....

... in areas such as this... I'd agree...    elsewhere, Bangkok for example and other cities and area's foreigners are treated and thought of with a similar indifference with which Thai's will treat each other...  and interacted with based on merit rather than anything else...

... This is actually what I like about Thailand (outside of such areas)...

The speed and severity, along with the lack of any desire to verify details or ensure proportionality, let alone check what the supposed victim wants, is a pretty strong indication that these men actively desire to attack and seriously injure foreign people.  They are simply waiting for the excuse to do so.

Unfortunately, there are many foreigners who also wish to see other foreigners being hurt by Thais, so they lie to themselves and say that the victims were "asking for it", never believing that it could happen to them.

Well said: 100% agree...

I also agree that there are some particularly nasty characters on here to take great pleasure in seeing another foreigner get beaten to within an inch of his life, yet are such snowflakes and cry foul and upset so easily when their stupidity is called out forum...    They are, without exaggeration, the textbook definition of mentally unhinged

I think the key point in all these incidents where falangs got a beat down is that they were probably avoidable.

How many units of intoxication hours in Thailand are represented on this board and how many AN members have been beaten unconscious in a bar dustup?

Avoidable, maybe even easily avoidable.

These types of jobs ... ie bouncers ... attracts thugs. Who else wants to do this job?

Getting extremely drunk and acting crazy in a bar is one of the most dangerous things you can do in Thailand.

If after reading all these endless incidents on here and you're still doing it, then no one can help you.

This kind of beatdown for a mere slap is insane.

But the media cannot be trusted, so we may never know what happened.

I think thats overthinking the 'intelligence' of those dishing out the beating... Evenkeel is right, these guys don't care at all about the woman in question...   They are 'trigger-finger-locals' looking for an excuse...

How would you know if they don’t care or know the woman who was attacked?

They are all work in the same area, quite likely to be friends.

What we are seeing the tail end snippet of an 'incident' from a social media post and 'told' what happened by the original social media poster.

So I now I suppose we are going to here your version of events, someone who wasnt there.

One of the major issues Social Media Posts (original source not the AN report) is the influence of sensationalism. Opinions are drawn from short, highly selective or incomplete video snippets posted on social media – such clips designed to provoke, outrage, or mislead. They typically present the worst angle of an event, often from an extremely biased perspective, and rarely provide the full context.

ok, let’s hear it.

So - what was the full context ???

I'm not condoning the men hitting a woman (any woman), but, why is there never any 'lead up' in these social media stories to give us context...   i.e did the woman slap the men a few times until they had enough and slapped her back etc ? -

yes she must have deserved it. Drunken foreigners in Patong bars are always lovely types that would never cause any trouble.

2 hours ago, richard_smith237 said:

I'm not suggesting this is what happened - just that there is more to the story that could offer an explanation as to how and why things escalated)...

Or, did the woman simply say something the men took offence to so the 'animals' slapped her for hardly any reason at all ??

She must have said something. Definitely her fault.
Thais are like that.

Was there a padded or contested bill and the woman become argumentative and physical ?

of course there was.

I've seen guys in similar situations - one guy paid up and left a bar - the other guy was handed the bill for both of them - he contested the bill and things got heated, girls shrieking and arguing with him, pushing him, while he remained calm - he took out his phone and showed the QR payment receipt of the of the other guy - the cashier accepted this 'accidental' double charge - but a few of the girls were already angry by that stage and looking for a problem with the guy !!...    the guy did well to completely decompress a situation and stay chilled - others would have become a social media story...

Sure you did.

Well thanks for that long winded essay true to form blaming the Thais and defending the foreigner.

You have convinced me and I hope the woman compensates the tourists and gives them a wai and a gift basket.

If I had of been there and seen the Israeli men hitting the Thai woman there would have only been three hits in it.

Me hitting them, them hitting the ground and the ambulance hitting 100 kmh.

I would like to think that they have learned their lesson, but most women beaters never do.
You seem to be making this out to be a racist attack, real men don’t care what race the victim is. A man hitting a woman in the face is wrong.

Very true...   In Thailand, its easy to avoid trouble by not getting wasted and acting out...

You an MMA fighter? Kung Fu?

There's no reason to ever hit a woman, ever under any circumstances, whether or not this level of retaliation was justified is a slightly different story and a very complicated story, but these goons never should have slapped that woman. That was just dumber than dumb.

The second more obvious aspect of this is that Pattaya and Phuket are now attracting the lowest quality tourists in Thailand on a fairly consistent basis, and we're seeing more and more incidents unfolding as a result of these guys hanging out in hordes.

In a sense the administration is to blame, in their utter desperation to attract big tourist numbers they've gone ahead and attracted a significant number of the lowlife goons.

Those two places also attract the lowest quality Thais.

I think as another poster highlighted - the lack of 'first hand reports' of getting into this sort of trouble indicates that for those who don't get wasted, shoot off their mouth and act like total twits its pretty difficult to find trouble.

That said: I have heard of first hand incidents where 'groups of win riders' have verbally harassed passers by and when the westerner reactive verbally, they received a kicking... (both incidents in Pattaya) - I think both incidents involved the foreigner respond with f$%k-off !!...     just the trigger point the group of thugs were after.

I've walked past such groups and the only thing to do is not show any emotion or reaction whatsoever and just continue walking by.
