Riots against American digital nomads in Mexico City

The people coming to the US illegally are the original native population of Mexico while the people protesting are likely the Spanish. The Americans are most likely going in to the white parts of Mexican cities and disrupting them. Makes the whole calculation more complicated because honestly the mostly Spanish Mexicans are not the ones causing upsets in the US.

1.  Just having fun because this is a clown thread

2.  In mid-2023, there were an estimated 5.5 million unauthorized Mexican immigrants in the United States. This represents a decline from a peak of 7.8 million in 2007, but recent years have seen a slight increase. While Mexicans still constitute the largest single group of unauthorized immigrants

3.  impossible to generalize.  mexican flags.  maybe they are from Honduras and funded by Soros.  Impossible to know anything.

it's all case-by-case.  There are millions of nice Mexicans, great food, but it they are undocumented then they need to do it correctly.

Mexico can kick out all Americans, I don't care.  Do whatever.  They can build a wall and keep Americans out.  Maybe Trump is paying these protestors to get more ICE funding.  lol.  ICE is gonna get super big.

then let Trump deal with it, or not.   Whatever we type here means nothing.   All I know is I'm not doing any of the jobs typically done by Mexicans.

America 100% had a chance to take all of Mexico.  We didn't.  They can be the 50.5 state.

I'm not sure this is ironic.   One group has money, gets the proper visa, spends money legally.   The other is undocumented, sneaks in, works off the books, and who knows what.

maybe the govt should just build separate apartment complexes for digital nomads.

then they would complain about dual pricing.

It could be a, they saw that they can live without tourism during covid, so now they are resentful. Or b, they saw that they cannot live without tourism during covid, so now they are resentful.

According to this poll our good Indian friends are the most racist. Also not surprising Thailand is more racist than the US.

And one group is pushing the prices up for citizens of that country, while the other group is helping keep prices down with cheap labour.

That's part of the equation. But both groups are pushing up the price of housing in both countries. The norteamericanos through paying high rents and the mexicans through contributing to the US housing demand, reduced availability, and housing costs.

You know nothing about Japanese culture.

Actually, you're the one exhibiting a lack of knowledge of Japanese culture here.

Whilst the user you are replying to possibly could have chosen a better way to put it, the Japanese did adopt a strong "kawaii" (cute) culture after the end of the Second World War.  It was a reaction to the pure evilness exhibited by the Japanese and the atrocious things that they did during WWWII, along with guilt for causing the two nuclear bombs to be dropped on their country.  It's like they basically wanted to become little kids again.

I'll say it again...love Mexican food, but I'm not living there.  It is state by state.  They say Mexico City is Level 2, which I guess is fine for a city that huge.

S. Africa, Brazil, Central America, most other places.....hard pass.     Mexico, not yet.    I wouldn't recommend many cities in America, either.

I'll stay in my gated community in the middle of Montana.

Mexico's crime rate is high, with the country ranking among the most crime-ridden globally. Specifically, it's considered the fourth most crime-ridden country worldwide and the second most dangerous in the Americas. In terms of homicide rates, Mexico ranks among the highest globally, with a rate of 24.9 per 100,000 people in 2023

If we get this thread to 103 pages it will be read on the Senate floor.  lol

Thats right. But as far as nationalism goes they are still just as racist as when they were imperial

People seemed to love Obama.  Nobody really understands America, even most Americans.  Obama was OK, but I do think Obama was sending a zillion drones to kill a lot of people.  Nobody is who they seem.   Trump is probably much worse, but Biden was barely breathing.   After Obama, American anti-sentiment went through the roof.  I get it.  I don't like it, but I think people are afraid that if America goes crazy their country will be negatively affected.  They are probably right.   But complaining to me about it is like talking to a bar girl about funding SS in America.  Why?

I can't think of a part in the world right now crushing it.   Vietnam, Japan?  Maybe in some parts.

Your legacy will always be only you.  Not your country.  So get out there and do something!!!!    What will your obituary say?  What will your tombstone stay?  lol.    Trump, have my ashes tossed out of a B2 Bomber as we nuke the UK.  Huh?  What?  You say something?!?!??!?!!?!?!  I thought not.  hahahhahahaha.  Brits are obsessed with us.  crazy.

There are some good spots, such as Aguascalientes. But the tourist areas seem to have gotten a lot worse, and the one time luxury spot, Cuernavaca, is high crime now, too. Lots of Americans have retired to Mexico and live in retiree ghettoes. Things could soon get hot for them.

A little rich coming from the Mexicans, who export thousands of their people to the US yearly only for them to remit their earnings back to Mexico, which keeps it afloat... and you are worried about a bunch of digital nomads working from their bedrooms in Mexican cities. Couldn't make it up.

Fine, Mexico ban all US citizens and the US ban all Mexican citizens, reciprocity is good hey... quid pro quo, lol, good luck with that regarding who loses. So many morons mouthing off these days about nonsense.

Perhaps, people like you have helped fuel the racist mentality in Thailand.

I'm well aware not everyone wants some random foreigner showing up in their area so I go to extra lengths to be a good member of the community and integrate as well I can. This is extremely important to me in Thailand.

Aguascalientes.

That's a cool name.  Great topography and food.  Music is good.  Culture overall is good.

I've never met an American who didn't like Mexicans to their face.  Behind closed door, sure, we joke.  But that's just some weird bonding stuff that probably every country does.  After I turned 25, nobody cares unless it affects you directly.

I'm just glad I can still trigger some snowflakes online.  great comedy for me.  Most stories don't need comments, we aren't adding any value.

Illegals are taking 100’s of Billions of tax payer dollars from citizens beyond what they contribute . It cost over $ 200,000 for K-12 public education in the US, over 430,000 in NJ. So tell us how a low skilled, mostly non English speaking person will realistically ever pay that back for 2-4 children? To house a single prisoner in California it costs 133,000 annually 10’s of thousands in just California alone. Besides, housing, food subsidies along with health care over 1,200,000,000 is sent to just Mexico every week in remittances that money creates zero jobs, pays zero sales taxes (about a 105,000,000 loss weekly). Healthcare is 100’s of billions… Then theirs the obvious cost in the legal system for crime, rape, murder, child molestation or worse… educate yourself.

See the Mexican president up in arms about the remittances tax? The Mexican elite know full well their exporting their underclass to America and extracting money out of the country while moving their problems to become Americans.

Agree. I like most Mexicans I meet (as I like most Chinese I meet), and I love things Mexican. Tried to get a hacienda style house built in Isan once. Didn't get anywhere.

That has nothing to do with what I posted. Also when counting Mexican you need to include their anchor babies over decades now. It's 10's of millions of people.

Who would you rather have come to the US, Mexicans or endless H1B Indians? I think I opt for Mexicans. I could easily live in a Mexican neighborhood. Don't know what  Indian/Pakistan one would be like.

Neither but I'd choose Mexicans still. Their numbers are drying up so they're now targeting Indias 1.4B people. It's a horrific bio weapon being unleashed upon Americans.

As Mexico has modernized, its birthrate has declined. I remember the 70s and 80s, when it used to be almost 6 per woman until today, when it's less than replacement population, below 2.0

I would take a legal, English-speaking Indian engineer in the country to over no-skilled often illiterate non-English speaking people that come illegally, and end up on the public teat for life.

I managed a few plants in India and generally liked the people.

Interesting thread. Mexicans protesting about Americans in Mexico when they're also protesting about Americans in America. It's all Trump's fault I'm sure.

You must be a Leftist.

I'm not sure they understand it, but they're really protesting venture capital buying up homes to put on the tourism rental market.  That's driving up housing costs all over the world.  Some places, worse than others.  And it's been supercharged since "work at home" became mainstream during Covid.

The housing prices in our little former fishing community on Galveston Island went through the roof because Houston people now only have to make the hour ++ (miserable, and sometimes several hours on a bad day) commute a few times a month.  Add that to all the AirBNB conversions and it's no longer affordable for most families like it was just a few years ago.

Looks like Mexico City is seeing the same phenomena with remote workers.  The AP article even singles out AirBNB.

Sadly, a lot of non-Western people really want the West to fail.  It hardly surprises me to see a group saying "We don't want Americans here, they're making things financially difficult for us" while at the same time, they're in America saying "You should allow us to stay here, even though it is financially difficult for you."

They've been turned into perpetual victims with a resulting sense of entitlement by years of leftist "White man bad; Brown people good" campaigns.

Japan is a masculine culture. Masculinity dominates. You misinterpret politeness, decorum and proper dress as effeminate. Because western culture has deteriorated to the level of ill mannered slobs, does not make western culture more masculine.  Japanese adults do not gobble up the cutsie nonsense depicted in Japanese romcoms or JPop. Aside from the japanese teenage girl demographic, the biggest fans are foreigners, not japanese people.

The adoption of cuteness was a reflection of the importance of children and the celebration of  youth. It has nothing to do with atonement for the evils the Japanese inflcited on other Asians or western POWS during WWII. Japan has yet to fully apologize for its wrongful acts. This is why the Korean  and Chinese people are reluctant to fully embrace  Japan. Until there is an outright admission of wrongdoing and a formal apology complete with a bowing and  perhaps kneeling to the  asian victims, much of Asia will not let go of their distrust of Japan.

Japan has only expressed "regret" or "sorrow" for its actions. There has never ever been a flat out apology, not even the slightest attempt at a customary dogeza. Japanese  school texts gloss over the atrocities  of WWII and do not hold Japan responsible.

If you have ever been out for  a group dinner or  compulsory socializing event with Japanese  co-worker, you will  soon see that there is nothing cutsie about 40 year old men belching  beer stench, or behaving crudely, or puking because they drank too much.
