Poker is a "sport" ????

In my opinion it's stupid gambling which you can be addicted to.

It's wasted time for/with stupid people

Why am I doing it for a living since 2012 then? I must be very stupid I guess.

Generalization like that always come from the most ignorant people.

Just say you know nothing about poker it's ok. Poker is far from being only "gambling".

But debating with you about it would be a waste of time as you don't even know what you're talking about when it comes to this topic.

Yes,

It's gambling, as many other card games.

As an addict you wouldn't admit this addiction.

Stay calm.

If you losing money it's not my money or my wasted time with other addicts.

Good luck.

Nice of them to acknowledge the sports, lol

They don't really think the NFL is coming here for a game do they?

Ironically the two Thai lotteries are likely the largest source of gambling in the country. In fact, I do not know any Thai nationals that do not participate. Personally, I love playing poker with friends (for money)- back in the US we’d gather every week, play poker, smoke cigars, and eat/drink with loads of laughs… it was a great fellowship-  miss it. I have not played in Thailand because I respect the laws of the land. I have several Thai/farang friends that want to play poker and so I hope this is an opportunity for the law  to favor home games. I’m not holding my breath, but we will see…

Real football is Australian Rules Football.

After confusedly watching this, it seems that the first rule of Australian Rules Football is there are no rules.  🙂

So, if you want to lose weight, take up the sport of poker,

The country is flooded, in a week the USA may impose economy crushing tariffs, the economy is stalled, the stock market is one of the world's worst, and household debt is out of control.  Thank goodness the powers that be remain focused on what is truly important:  American Football and Poker competitions

But dare to PLAY poker and you'll be arrested and thrown into prison for gambling and possessing illegal playing cards.

You're deflecting now.

Is it something you do often involving yourself and talking about things you know nothing about?

What a sad miserable life. At least, it's not like your opinion hold any weight anyway.

Nothing but air. Your username checks out lol.

Another step in the strategy to legalize gambling in Thailand

I repaid the courtesy by explaining to him the detailed rules and intricasies of cricket. I think I lost him at silly-mid-on, or it might have been googly or thick outside edge. He was mightily impressed that the game was stopped occasionally for a cup of tea and then lunch.

I went to the WC and returned to see that he had legged it. Mission accomplished.  :coffee1:

I lived and worked in India for a year and a half and my local friends there, on a few occasions tried to explain the game of cricket to me and as an American I just could not grasp it. I see some similarities to baseball but the scoring seems utterly bizarre to me.

It's a little bit hard to relate to having any serious poker here without gambling, but I suppose you could have poker tournaments with major prize winnings, and that would not be considered gambling.

I don't know what the introduction of American football to Thailand means.

You can't stop blubbering nonsense? Hmmh, why you chose "shocky"? Because everybody will be shocked if they see you and run away? It's ok for me. I'll never meet you, you master of nonsense.

The directive comes with a caveat: it mandates that poker must strictly remain a sport, untainted by gambling associations

Has he never watched a professional poker tournament... it involves betting with real money and assets on an outcome.

Casinos will soon be called sports venues..

Explain

As it is illegal to own own more than x (=2?) packs of playing cards, it might be difficult to arrange a legal and credible "sporting" event.

Having watched many simulated poker games on various tv shows and films, IMHO, it ranks with "watching paint dry" as a spectator sport, along with bridge, chess, cricket, and golf, to name but a few.

Yes thought same, will they simply have tournaments with an entry fee ? (like many tournaments do)
then you play with chips to win the big monetary prize
it would be no different than a football club that pays to be in the FAT leagues

Somebody wants to earn money. That's it

Does this recognise, also, the game variants such as Strip Poker?😋

Poker is sport? I guess chess is also sport.

So, presumably, must be dominoes, tiddly winks, draughts, etc. - along with blackjack, bridge, rummy, etc.

We can look forward to Thailand hosting the next Olympic Games

Suppose ,  one way of getting around brick walls and red tape   !

Can't compare. Playing chess you have to foresee and plan your moves and take in account what your opponent might do. So you have to have a good mathematical brain, whereas Poker is for the dumbest possible to play.

Then it just not poker. Might as well have called “Go Fish” a sport.
