  • Isnt that the norm, the standard practice, a guy walks into a bar, sees a female he likes, and sooner or later its "Can I buy you a drink" its pretty much the same anywhere, in Thailand its just clear

  • Then you are a bit more stupid than most, if you do not understand the difference between a bar without hired ladies to entertain customers and not!    Another typewriter hero I see who join

  • The assumption is one buys lady drinks as a prelude to sex. Not so.   IME about 30 - 50% of the women in bars are not selling sex, they are selling companionship for a few minutes.

Why not if you visit lady bars? That's how it is, unless you want to occupy their time for free, and be a cheap deleted customer

What's wrong woth that.

At the end of the day, each to their own; who is anyone to sit in judgement of what responsible adults choose to do.

Problem is, Charlie, is that anywhere else in the world that drink you buy for her would cost the same as yours....

For quite a few of them, lady drink commissions and tips are their sole source of income.

If you go to a bar full of "ladies" to have a laugh and some fum, then why not, as long as it doesn't get out of control? Best to pay-as-you-go though and not run a bill... go with lots on 100 and 50 baht notes in your pocket.

No point being a miserable cheap Charlie and expect everything for free as you'll have a boring time... entertainment isn't for free, just do it and remember when to walk away to the next place. This is bar visiting advice 101.

I don’t drink alcohol and if I did I certainly wouldn’t buy a lady drink, it would be a manly drink because I’m a manly man and not a girly boy.

No. But you certainly you must be given the silly op.

It's the way of the world Bob. Few years back I popped into a place in Guam for a beer. An Asian granny came over and asked for a beer. I'm easy so said sure till I saw price for her was $25.00. That was sad.

I did it for the romance,

Bit of touching, flirting, complements, then once I'm worked up, back home quick to bang the wife.

Charlie,

As someone else has already pointed out this is a very new member (or someone on a second or third fake account) asking a question that has probably been asked 100s of times on here.

Can we just close the thread?

In years gone by, lady drinks weren't really the norm, instead the girls would 'take care" in the hope that you might take them home and the bar was happy that you were spending money in their place.

As more farangs came to Thailand and some even "bought" bars and realized they could do very well out of lady drinks, plus the increasing difficulty getting enough girl's meant that lady drinks were pushed more and so the girls and the bar could earn more money. There are some girls who can earn 1000b plus per night just on lady drink commissions so no need to go with some undesirable dude and be abused.

Unfortunately now it's all become a bit mercenary and not my scene at all. Each to their own I suppose

If you dont like the thread, then why are you here reading it?

Just move on.

thats a fair comment, but here, in that situation, you also know there's more on the table on offer should you choose to indulge; that's NOT the same elsewhere (mostly), so not a fair comparison in that regard.

When I go, it's with the purpose to make it rain. We all know the game, and the girls shower me with their attention - girls I would NEVER have a shot at back home. They're happy, I'm happy, and we all part with happy memories. I have no respect for Cheap Charlies and think you should NEVER go to such a bar tightly clutching your purse.

Just because you may have seen it many times, and yes it has been asked many times over the years, doesnt mean that everyone who visits this site has seen it or participated in it.

So, no, it wont be closed as clearly people are engaging with it.

As for the OP having mutltiple accounts, thats probably true of many on this board and there is no rules against that, unless, of course you run more than one at a time and switch between them, now that will result in the account being closed, that is clearly not the case here.

When I first came to Thailand, you need not buy a lady drink just for the sake of it...a girl would play connect 4 with you for half an hour and then the mamasam would ask if you wanted to buy them a drink..if you did, it would normally be a bottle of Leo with a 20 baht mark up on customer prices. 200 baht bar fine and 1,000 baht all night..and they would clean your room and do your laundry in the morning...girls would knit a scarf for you and cut your nails..then it was a pleasure to buy them a drink. Now with all the aholes that have come in the past 20 years or so, you have ruined it...yes sweet Paradise you ruined with wanting to pay more and having falang fatigue...no I don't buy lady drinks, I very rarely drink but certainly wouldnt spend 185 baht on a 15 baht shot...you are all mugs
