And you do not understand, it is not the cannabis itself that’s the problem, but hopefully we can go back to before covid area where cigarettes started to disappear from the public eye and disturbance.

  • This should be interesting, as he's one of the most anti-foreigner politicians out there 😎

  • Now maybe the Cannabis legislation will go back to being sane instead of axing a few thousand new cannabis based businesses!

  • I don't think this will be as toxic for farangs as it appears. His fanaticism during Covid was rethought and he decided he had misspoke. He had the right idea on the cannabis issue and I think he dese

Exactly worst possible choice. The greatest foreigner hater Thai politics ever had, as we saw in the pandemic.

but that's exactly what a dirty farang would think!

IFR  Infection Fatality Rate of "Covid"   ™ ® ©  was known within the first few weeks and low  for most of the population..the elderly and already chronically  ill  needed protection,

the rest of society/world  should have just been allowed to get on with it..shutting down the whole world was a big "mistake" causing huge damage, pretty sure doing "nothing"  would have been a better choice.

Actually had it in check pretty good, and local catering vendors at end of 2020, early 2021 were doing fine.  Just the tourist areas shuttered.

We were all around from the get go, and by end of 2020, early 2021, all was normal, except tourist areas.  Beach roads on Phuket, and at Ao Nang were shuttered.  One or 3 roads over, and all was normal.

Funny, first week or so of lock down, and all shuttered locally, the following week, all open, except surfside road.  PoPo didn't care, and ignored the shut down.

They'd see me walking the dog surfside, no mask, and didn't bat an eye.  Always wave to each other if having eye contact.   I go hammered and banned on TA for my opinion, and sadly, I was spot on.  And same as AN, told we, un-vax'd & unmasked, should jailed or deported, for spreading the virus ... :cheesy:

Death count was ridiculously low in TH, until, the tourist returned, unquarantined, since for some silly reason, people still believed ...

... "If vax'd, you can't get or spread the virus" ...

Oh well ... you can't fix stupid.

Another clown in charge!

IMO, Anutin and the BJT are snakes in the grass.

Normally snakes are reasonably predictable. If you leave them alone they will leave you alone.

Anutin was quite happy to get into power with the the PTP until it suited him to jump away simply to gain power and ministerial seats.

Then he joined the opposition for a short while before joining with the PPP and now it seems that he will be the PM.

There is nothing and nobody to stop him, other than yet another military coup,  if he gets into power and then decides to dump the PPP.

Which takes me back to the snakes again.

At least with Thaksin and the PTP, they were fairly predictable whether you liked them or not.

hmmm… i wonder how many months this one will last ?

The Thai people have voted

See what happens in 4 months could be interesting times coming up 🤔

Actually the Thai people have NOT voted at all.

A party within the opposition has joined with a smaller party and foolish let the smaller party into power.

This guy does not like farangs

This time it's different. Instead of handing out masks to dirty farang....

Deputy PM Anutin urges Phuket officials to get tough with foreign offenders. Time to be less considerate

Minister of the Interior Anutin expresses fury at foreign misconduct in Phuket.

He referred to foreign elements making trouble throughout the island on the Andaman Sea.

Well done, who does not behave well with respect and polite deserve to be punish and even deported. Furthermore, because of these reckless people, all of us are involved...

Who ever is in charge I really hope someone looks at this senseless ridiculous tax system.I don't mind paying tax but I already have paid tax in my home country so why pay again in Thailand.WAKE UP

Anutin is very intelligent and honest. No doubt he can organize a fair playing field for the Thai people and it’s guests.

Just joking - I consider him a good pick.  Wife likes him.  And he's not a Shin.

Congratulations Noo Anutheen

I don’t trust him . He knows he has to act quickly , he has 4 months.,

Many folks in this thread wrote or implied that PTP is finished. I think it is too early to say that, although as of now, things surely don't look good for them.

Assuming there will be an election early next year, it certainly looks like PP will win. But, the thing is will they win in a way that they can lead solo? That is not certain at all.

"As of today PTP are finished" well isn't that wonderful, so does the Civil War begin by next Spring, or will it be held off until the Summer?

Never a dull moment in the LOS:

BREAKING: House Speaker Prepares to File a Petition from 60 MPs to the Constitutional Court Against Anutin-Natthapong MOA on Monday

On September 7, a group of at least one-tenth of the Members of Parliament (MPs) had jointly signed a petition to the Speaker of the House of Representatives to forward its petition to the Constitutional Court. The petition seeks a ruling on whether the membership of Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, and Mr. Natthapong Ruangpanyawut, leader of the People's Party, has been terminated according to Section 101 (2) in conjunction with Section 185 (1) and (2) of the Constitution. This is in relation to the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to dissolve parliament within four months and hold a referendum on constitutional amendments in exchange for votes for the prime minister position. Mr. Wan Muhammad Noor Matha, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has not yet signed the petition to send it to the Constitutional Court. This is because on September 5, he spent time verifying the signatures until 4:30 PM. Therefore, he decided to send it according to the proper procedure on September 8.

Now we do not who is really in charge, unlike the previous PM.

Correction-- He was not elected, he was put in power by the support of peoples (elected) party under certain conditions, if he fails to honor these there will be more political trouble ,possibly a coup, he's only got 4 months to honor dissolving parliament them maybe good bye to the drug baron.

An opinion that is realistic. What do you expect will happen? A complete reversal of a policy that has popular support and the backing of people with a say in public policy? The largest producers, and distributors  are the beneficiaries of the removal of marginal market participants.

Sadly I don't think her father will ever give up politics, he seems to prefer it to playing with his grandchildren. So his daughter, who seems to enjoy  politics herself, will remain on the scene.

It's all very well being stinking rich but these folks want power and acclaim too, that's the drugs. Reminds me of someone across the Atlantic!

Nah, he (or one of his assistants, as he claims) posted something ignorant during covid and later apologized. But as a farang myself, I can understand the stereotype of a dirty farang in a Chang tangtop and elephant pants hanging out on Khao San or in Koh Phangan or Phuket and reeking of BO. Sadly, this loud minority does create stereotypes.

True, although they are also amongst the largest consumers of his weed.. 🙂

Production has already largely shifted to fewer, larger operations. Most small farms shut down over a year ago when prices plummeted. But the new regulation requiring a clean COA for commercially sold products is a good thing imo. It makes it harder for smaller operations, sure, but when it comes to something that's being smoked, strict regulations are extremely important. A lot of chemical pesticides, fertilizers, and plant growth regulators/hormones were being used in the early days of legalization, which are responsible for most mental health issues derived from using cannabis, not the THC or the cannabis itself.

Distribution won't change much, though. There were way too many shops in the beginning, which wasn't sustainable, regardless of changes to the laws. But I highly doubt we'll see 16k of the 18k shops currently open close like some predicted. Maybe half, over the course of the next year or so. Outside of a few pockets in Bangkok, nothing has changed except that the prices keep dropping, so margins get thinner and thinner for shops. But nobody is enforcing medical prescriptions or monthly limits outside of a handful of places in BKK. The genie is out of the bottle, and there's no putting it back in completely.
